oven temp

Does anybody know why the new modles have ovens that only go up to 360* you can't even cook french fries in it. I'm just wondering their reasoning.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking.....

The new Cougar mod (I believe that's what you have) use either a 17" or a 21" Furrion range/oven combination. Both of them have ovens that are advertised to cook at temperatures ranging from 350 to 475°F (146 to 246°C).

Are you saying that the "knob on your oven" only goes to 360* or are you saying that when you set the "knob to a higher temperature" that the actual oven temperature only reaches 360* ????

Here is the spec sheet on both Furrion range/oven combinations:

FWIW, the new and 'improved' Furrion ovens won't slow bake anything. 350 is the lowest temperature. I just love that brand name Furrion. Just imagine if the company manufactured birth control.....

Also, you might "doublecheck" the markings on the oven knob. If I remember correctly, the temperature markings are on the actual knob. I "think" I remember seeing a couple of knobs in a Forest River trailer that had F/C markings on the knob, but most had Fahrenheit markings only.

It may be possible that there is also a knob intended for Canadian trailers, that has only Centigrade markings ???? Could it be that your trailer "possibly could have been built to "CSI" certification and then diverted to a US dealership? If so, then it may be as simple as changing out the knob from a "Centigrade marked knob" to a "Fahrenheit marked knob" ?????

360° C is 680° F so I doubt the knob is intended for the Canadian market, although that would certainly support the brand name lol.

My oven was mis-calibrated from the factory. You set it at 400° and it was more like 225°. So I re-calibrated the control and now it is spot on and works like a charm. We don’t often use the oven but it is nice to know it is working right if we did need it.

Yep, takes up almost no space in a kitchen loaded with plenty of space, and those cakes, cookies and pot roasts….oops, sorry!

Could you tell me how you fixed your oven? I tried to take the top grate off to see if that was the way in, but I cannot remove. I can only get my oven up to 350 also. Thank you in advance for your help.

Yes that is what we are both saying. I detest this oven. My old 1993 oven works better than this 2017 Hideout 31RBDS works. And the specs you put in only tells us the measurements of different ovens, this Furrion makes.

Pammy, John just read a little closer than you did, page 2 under 'Specification:'

Oven Cooking Technology Conventional (bottom-up heat transfer)
Oven Temperature Range 350 to 475°F (146 to 246°C)
Oven Burner Power 7,100 BTU
Gas Safety Cut-off Valve √

When I try to bake something at 400-450 and turn the dial to that, the highest I can get the oven to is 360. I have 2 thermometers in there and the oven doesn’t go up that high. So I turned the dial to 500, waited 20 minutes, opened door the temp is still 360.

All I am asking is “how” do I calibrate the oven to heat to that temperature. I bake a lot for my grandsons and this is not working for me. I want to jerk this one out and put my old oven in.

Especially!!! on RV ovens, the numbers on the dial mean nothing. They are marks on the knob. Those knobs are used on multiple models and each oven, even with the same model, will have variations in temperature.

What you need to do is fire up the oven. At the first "tick" mark on the dial, let the oven heat up until the gas flame goes out. Insert an oven themometer and get the temperature. Write it down.

Now put the dial on the second "tick" mark and do the same. Write it down.

Do this for each "tick mark" and then you know the ACTUAL temperature at each tick mark on the dial.

This is the only way to be sure what the actual temperature is inside the oven at any setting.

Once you have this chart, keep it in a cabinet, or tape to the wall for easy reference. I think you'll be surprised at the variance between the numbers on the dial and the actual temperature inside the oven.

On ours, 350 degrees translates to about 400. The numbers on the dial are ALL lower than the actual temperature inside the oven. .....

What Dutchmensport wrote is a good idea.

Calibrating an oven isn’t something I would recommend that anyone undertake without the proper knowledge and training. I used to do commercial appliance service and repair, so I was comfortable doing it myself (and I had the proper tools and equipment).

My apologies, but there are very real dangers involved and I can’t contribute further to the calibration question other than to recommend you get a qualified and licensed gas service tech to check/adjust your oven if that is your choice.

Oven temperature

I did do that. But as the oven only heats to 375, it’s really irksome when a recipe calls for 400 degrees. Grrrrrr.

Pammy, give some thought to throwing out your POS and installing one you actually want. This gets good reviews, and there are about four more that exceed your expectations.
Avanti GR2013CSS Gas Range
Your choices will vary because of your limited width.
