LED Strips vs String of lights on the awning

Ours came with the LEDs in the awning tube, and they were burnt out when we got it. I replaced them with a RGB set, and added a WiFi controller. I put all the electronics inside the tube. Now I can control the lights with my smartphone from anywhere.
Our previous camper had no awning lights, I added them by running a wire set inside the arm in the opposite channel that the power goes for the awning motor.
In that case, I added a little plug at the tube to unplug before you roll it up. I had to quick unplug it in the rain a few times.
