Warranty coverage?

This may be best answered elsewhere in the forum but what is the warranty coverage on “new” trailer tires? We had a blowout on the rear tire today on our 2017 Keystone 5ver (bought Oct17). I’m going to replace it but wonder if I should try to get it covered under warranty? Any thoughts...or luck with this?

Usually there is no tire warranty (I know ours doesn't) by the dealer especially when you've gone nearly a year from purchase. The issues with the poorly made OEM tires on most trailers is well documented. I'd suggest an upgrade to one of the better tire manufacturers like Goodyear, Sailen, Carlile or Maxis. Also look at going up one load range i.e. from D to E. Finally, invest in a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
If you didn't suffer any other damage than the blown tire consider yourself lucky. Take the hint and consider the upgrade. You're on borrowed time.

What Cannonman said^^^^. Might I ask what brand are your tires ? I'm afraid that you are in for a rude awakening with your other three. When one goes, the mate usually follows very close behind. If there is a snowball's chance of warrantee it will be with the tire manufacturer. I'm betting the answer will be no.

Thanks cannonman and notanlines. Unfortunately we have the Westlake tires everyone HATES! In SW Colorado now and will visit local dealers to see what is available. Still plan to contact Keystone (Monday?) ...should have some kind of warranty on these buggers! Got some minor damage to the aluminum skirting at the rear too.

Warranty if any will be through the tire OEM. There should have been info with your manuals when you bought the rig.

In the real world you'd be right. But this is "RV Land" and nothing is the same.
At best, Westlake might??? offer some kind of discount on another set of What, Westlake bombs!
But you probably won't have to worry about that.
If there is a Walmart close by, they carry the Carlisle ST tire. I bought mine there and the price was quite reasonable.

Once you've had this experience...DON'T go buy more cheap China bombs! With the one failure you can rest assured the other tire on that side is now compromised. You got away with minimal damage it sounds like. Replace them ALL now and don't wait for another disaster. Look at going to a higher load range if your wheel is capable. I bought the Carlisle Radial HD and they have given great service.

There are of VOLUMES about tires on the Forum. Spend some time reading to educate yourself about the choices and pitfalls. You'll thank me later.

You just drive your RV up to a Walmart service center and they will jack up your trailer and change a tire?

Our Walmart Supercenter will. I have seen posts where other Walmarts would not. Walmart does seem to have the best price for the Carlisle HD tire.

If you drive a brand new car or truck off the lot the dealer does NOT cover the tires, neither do rv manufacturers or dealers. Check your warranty.

Save yourself time and frustration and proceed forward as a few mentioned here. Westlake is at the lower end of quality. Get the rest of them off ASAP....

From my experience, most Walmarts will not remove tires from a RV. One can, however, buy an 8 ton bottle jack and two jack stands and remove both tires from one side in the parking lot. Outside of a torque and lug nut wrench, nothing else is needed. I carry a 1/2" cordless torque wrench and can remove a tire in about 2 minutes.

If replacing all 4 tires, just remove 1 side at a time. I always chock both tires on the ground side and apply the parking brake on the TV. With my TT, I lower the tongue jack just enough for it to make contact with the ground.

To the OP, I also give the Carlisle Radial Trail HD my personal recommendation. A good quality affordable tire. Go up 1 load range if your wheels can accommodate it.

Good luck.
