bike racks

Looking for a bike rack for the fifthwheel. I know they do not recommend to have one of those rear bumper mount one but I just want a little input on it. Any help would be appreciated

There ARE companies that make bike carriers for the rear of a trailer, and they will usually state that they are suitable for that location. Most/many/?? however are not recommended for the back of a trailer, and many will state that the warranty is not good if they are used there. They are out there, so maybe a quick google search will help you locate one/some....and hopefully someone on here may come along that can share their experience knowledge with you on them.

There have been lots of posts about bike racks on the forum. I just did a search for "bike racks" and this is what I got;

http://www.keystoneforums.com/forums...archid=4594075

I did not read them all and don't know if what you need is there but it's a place to start because there have been lots of suggestions/pics/ideas in the past.

Rear bumper mounted receivers are notoriously BAD! First that's not really a bumper. It's a dump hose holder Seriously, the metal used on the bumper is extremely thin. Second, it will literally tear apart at the welds when the cantilevered weight of a bike rack and bikes is added. I've seen it happen. The best option for a bike rack I've seen is where a class IV receiver is welded to the frame of the trailer. Cost is about $400. Then a good receiver mounted bike rack is secured to the receiver and the bikes ride safely and securely. Some 5er's are equipped with a "cargo" rack that can be used for bikes with a bit of modification.

If you do have one of those pullout style carriers be sure to remove the spare tire as it turns the pullout into bouncing ball and ends up getting bent. Ask me how I know.
