Joining Keystone RV

Finally decided to join instead of just browse. We started Rving before there was electricity (seems that way) and just purchased a Cougar 303RLS used. We sold our Cougar trailer and picked the floor plan we wanted and funny enough found a Cougar to be the answer again.

We started with a tent, slide in camper, 20' trailer, 27' Class C, 37' toy hauler, 40' motorhome, 28' trailer and now the 5th wheel. Traded my trusty 7.3 F250 for a 6.7 Powerstroke. 6.7 had the check engine light on and dealer agreed it would be repaired. 3 weeks later they haven't succeeded but I have no doubts they will get it someday.

We live in Nevada and Oregon depending on the time of the year and have been in all 50 states but only about half that many with the RVs. We hope to do the 4 corner tour this fall and spring. We enjoy "the going" part of RVing and really like the people we meet as the majority of RVers are really nice folks.

If anyone has any brilliant suggestions concerning operating and improving the 5th wheel, feel free to comment.

Howie, welcome to the forum. Lots of good info to be had here and it sounds like you have plenty to share. We've done the four corner, but not in one trip. And my butt is just too callused to do it on the motorcycle.

5th Wheels

Congrats on finally joining the forum. I have had a 5th wheel for over 5 years now and we love it, the one we have now is 37 feet and it tows so easy and smooth. I have no great mind rattling ideas for you since you have been RVing for while. One thing I have noticed tho is that a 5th wheel does not sway near like a regular pull behind. In fact not sure it sways at all.

After reading a number of comments and experiences buy RVers, we decided on a 5th wheel instead of a bigger trailer than our 28'. The common consenses was that trailers any longer than 30' were not as toweable friendly as 5th wheels so we went that way. I suspect you get used to what you pull but I thought I would listen to others on choice.

to the Forum, from another webfooted 5er owner. You'll find all kinds of expensive ideas, and plenty of helpful advice. Use the search feature and if no answers pop up, post your questions in the appropriate thread.
