Yup, another Honda generator question!

I'm interested in picking up a Honda gen for my 272BHS. I've got a 15K A/C. No offense, but I'm really only interested in Honda so information about any other brand is not helpful.

SO, here is my main question. Will the EU3000 run my a/c , inverter and a light or two with no issues? The front panel shows 23.3 amps. OR, for basically the same price get the EU2000 and the Companion? The combo combined shows 26.6 amps. I'd rather not have to spring for the $4K EU7000...

I've read a few opinions, kinda looking for folks with experience with these units. Thanks in advance!

All at the same time? Probably not. Rule of thumb has been 3500W for A/C. Add inverter and your probably asking too much.

A better option would be a pair of EU2000's, tethered together when you want to do what your asking.

I run my 15k unit from a 2000i and companion pair. They handle the load easily and are much easier to heft into the truck than a single gen would be.

While I cannot attest to the 2000 twins powering the a/c at startup plus a running microwave or blow dryer at the same time they have handled everything my wife has thrown at them 😂.

My setup;
EU 2000i
EU 2000 Companion
Cheater plug
Progressive EMS
IPI extended run fuel setup

That is what I plan to do.

Combined, they are more than a 3000 and weigh much less individually.

Good info. This is the kind of feedback I was looking for.

What is a "cheater plug"?

Thanks!

I think he is referring to the adapter plug that converts from the 30 amp twist style socket to the 30 amp RV plug. The companion model has the 30 amp twist socket on it. If he is using the Progressive EMS, he may also be referring to the ground/neutral plug that fools the EMS into thinking it is seeing a grounded neutral to keep it from tripping. This is a link that discusses this: http://www.rvdoctor.com/2012/10/my-h...-power-my.html

I bought a Honda EU3000i in 2002 and it is still going strong after three RVs. Runs the AC, fridge and TV fine. Won't run the microwave and AC at the same time. You have to manage power. And a full tank will easily run all night long.

When just trying to put some miles behind us, we often spend a night in a WalMart.

If it died tomorrow, I would get another one just like it.

Yes, it is the ground neutral plug I'm referring to. The link is a good reference.

What size a/c do you have in your RV?

By the way, that is a cool box you made!

I had a 13.5k in the first one and 15k in the last two. Thanks for the comment on my generator box. I am still using it 14 years later.

Here is how I wired my 50 amp service for the generator.

If Honda made a quiet series EU5000 or just something between the 3000 and the 7000, they'd make a killing...

I went with a 3000.

Works great, runs one AC at a time, but don't fire up the microwave of course.

Only advice I can offer is it's heavy. If you're lifting it to where it travels, get the dual 2000s if you don't have help.

And plan to run it empty before you try lifting it.

For anyone not able to lift a big heavy object even with help, the dual 2000 is a better setup.

I like the dual 2000 setup for lifting reasons and so I can only run one if I don't need A/C. More quiet and less gas being burned. We've been boondocking in the mountains during spring time with a bit of snow, but we've been cozy running one 2000 with the fireplace and the TV/DVD player while the inclement weather becomes less inclement.

if you are looking to split the difference between Honda's 3000 and 7000 units the Yamaha 4500 is great. Realize this is a non Honda brand but Yamaha is hardly cheap and is right there with Honda in most peoples eyes. WARNING- heavy, but its on wheels.

Pros-whisper quiet
impossible to overload will even run two ac's
remote start
15+ hours on 3 gallons
Great house backup

Cons:
Heavy
expensive($3000+)

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Yamaha. I have owned (and still own) a variety of Yamaha motorcycles, quads and even an old gen I still have. Zero issues with any of them.

My thought is if you're going to have one big gen you can't lift, why not have one that will power both A/C's? Can't lift most hitches out of the bed without assistance of some sort, so why not have a heavy, capable gen, too?

The two 2K's are still the best option for us, but it would be nice to have a high elevation adjustability option without having to rejet. I wonder if that big Yamaha has that feature?

It runs my house in power outages very well, everything in the whole house runs off it including the furnace. The only thing I leave off in the breaker box is the dryer, oven, and the AC, but the rest of the house is powered by the Yamaha 4500 ise. I have a small champion 2800/3100 I use I bought at Costco for my smaller RV needs, it runs the whole trailer easily and fires the AC up no problem. I have never run the microwave and ac at same time, I would turn one off . At $699 it is a steal, and its just as quiet (58db) as the Yamaha 4500 and only slightly louder than the eu 2000. I love them both. Our tailgaiting group has the Honda eu 2000 for that purpose, it is great. Good luck on your search.

^^^This. And....the Honda 2000's will fit on the back seat floorboards of my truck for "out of sight" travels.
Get an IPI Industries extended run tank with dual lines.
http://www.camperpartsworld.com/Dual...-_p_18697.html
Probably can get a better price than the link. That was the 1st one Google found.

I have the 3000i and it works great. Ran Ac and lights wo problem and coffee pot. Only issue was when all that was running and the microwave going too. I likes the big 3.5 gallon tank. My wife and I can put it in truck easily. I believe they can be put i. Parallel with another 3000i also
