What are the circumstances? Do you have LP? Are you connected to electrical power? How old is the water heater? Has it worked before? The more information you provide the easier it is to try to help you.

We really aren’t sure we’re even turning it on correctly ~ We bought it last week and the owner said everything worked ~The camper is in excellent condition and everything else works but the previous owner never showed us how to work the water heater ~ were new to the camping world and would love to find a video or something showing us how to work it ~ I’ve searched for a video on utube and other places but can’t find anything showing step by step ~It’s a 2008 keystone Montana ~

Make sure you have water in the water heater. Have you done that? Did the previous owner winterize it or not? If so, the heater may be in bypass mode. That needs to be checked if you don't know. If it is empty and you try to turn it on it could possibly ruin the heater.

Some steps:

>Make sure it's full of water.
>Connect the trailer to AC (shore) power (120vac).
>Turn on the propane tank(s) (make sure the knobs on the stove are off)
>There is probably a control panel of some kind that has some sort of rocker
switch for both the electric and LP going to the heater. Turn one or the other
on to check each particular function.
>It is a 2008 model so the HWH should ignite the propane without you having to do anything.
>It will take a while for the water to start to get warm. If on LP you should be able to hear the burner. If on AC you may or may not hear some sound (very slight) from the water heater.
>If it is a Suburban heater (on which I have very limited experience) I believe there is a small rocker switch on the water heater that has to be on in addition to the switch at the control panel.

That should get things started. Post back with results or questions.
