Fireplace shattered

Pulled the toyhauler out of the barn last night to start packing for a 2 week trip to Florida. found the electric fireplace glass was 100% shattered. It wasn't like that when I put it away 3 weeks ago. Nobody has been in it either. Has this happened to anyone else? The only thing I can think is heat, but I am sure it got hotter in there last year and nothing happened. I wonder if this will be covered under warrantee. Guess I need to dig out the paperwork on it when I get home today.

Hmmmm I wonder if that's the new "sharred glass look" ????

Not to make light of your damage, but chances are it won't be a warranty repair. Depending on whether you can even find the replacement glass, it may be cheaper to buy a new fireplace and keep this one for "spare parts" in case something else breaks.

Maybe your dealer can do some "magic" to find a way to do a warranty repair but I wouldn't count on it. In the mean time, don't let him keep it at the shop waiting for repairs, after he sees the damage, put a piece of clear contact paper over the glass (so it won't fall out into the carpet) and keep on camping until he gets the final decision.

And the high side, not trying to make light of the situation, is that you certainly won't need it in FL!! I would get the wheels rolling on either warranty, insurance or self pay, cover it and get ready for FL. As far as cause, it sounds pretty much like a heat issue (I think we recently had a poster who's RV window blew out similar to this). Why?

I have read more than once on this forum, that maybe a call to the "manufacturer" of the fireplace will do the trick?

I found the replacement front cover/glass for $140. Beats taking it to the dealer!! I will try to get it covered by the manufacturer first. I may not need it in FL, but sometimes I like to turn all 3 air conditioners on and then nap on the heated couch just because I can
