That's a concern JR and I was hoping to have a little spread between what the truck can reasonable handle and the current pin weight. I could trade my 2500 for a 3500 without too much, if any, damage to my wallet but I like my truck and it has the same bearings and rear-end, engine and transmission (allison) as a 1 ton anyway. So unless I go to a "dooly" I ain't gaining a hell of a lot. My 07 Duramax has a 4 inch exhaust, Banks ram air and dyno's at over 340 hp and close to 700ft lbs of torque
at the rear wheels. so I know I can handle the trailer weight. I see a number of 2500's from the big three hauling the 37ft Montanas which is heavier king pin weights than what I'm considering so I may be caught up in a little "analysis paralysis" and the so called "weight police" commenting about being over the truck specs. But, like you say, better safe than sorry and becoming the focus of a recovery operation.
