Maybe it has the max tow package with the 2500 lbs payload?

Couple years ago at a state park in VA I saw a Ram 1500 (who definitely DOES NOT have the high payload 1/2 tons) hooked up to an 8500 lb empty Rockwood Signature TT. And they had a TON of chairs, gear, lights, etc. That was arguably more egregious than this one. At least Ford has high payload 1/2 tons. Ram does not.

And is that Jayco really 11,700 GVW? That isn't that long of a rig, and isn't a TH.

Air bags would make it all better.

Surprisingly, the commenters generally agree that he is way out of his element.

I wish I knew where this guy was from or going, I'd give him a wide berth. Those wdh bars are dang near sucked right up past the trailer frame and he's pulled it so hard that at the :22 mark it sure appears he has pulled those brackets crooked. And then there's that "290 lbs.?" on a 300lb. hitch with a 4500 watt generator sitting there.....

Sigh...on their way to South Carolina...from where? The tail is going to be wagging that dog all down the freeway. Wonder how far they got before getting the correct TV?

I don't see anything wrong with this set up. After all, he has a Hensley Weight Distribution Hitch system! He's got the absolute best! And those air bags make it all absolutely correct! I bet that truck tows like a dream!

This from his comment description in the video:

This is with 1400lb bars on a hensley arrow
1170 pound tongue weight per a haul guage
40psi in the airlift ridecontrol airbags (stiffens the ride a bit and reduces bounce over rough areas)
290lbs on the trailer hitch (with a Westinghouse 4500df and 60lbs of propane with a harbor freight scooter carrier)

I think some folks just enjoy the "adventure" of doing some stupid, sketchy stuff. I think it makes them feel good thwt they "got away with it" and made it. I have a BIL that's that way. He'll cheap out to save a buck and it'll coet him 10 times as much in the end.

Years ago he would ask my opinion before doing something stupid and I would give him my thoughts and take the time to explain the reasoning behind it. He would ask me question after question, I believe in an attempt to get me to agree with him and validate his decision. Nearly everytime he would come back and say "I should have listened". One day when he asked me about some "hair brained" idea and I just got tired of it and replied "Let's just save some time. You're not going to listen to my advice so I'm not going to waste my time and energy giving it".

Some folks "Live and learn" and others just live. Unfortunately with the lack of knowledge and abscence of ethics the salesman will validate their poor decisions. Then there's the "other like minded" folks on some social media sites that gleefully proclaim that "They do it and you should to". It can then become diffifult to convince someone that acts like a kid and asks "Why can't I (fill in the blank)? All the kids in school are doing it!"
