There she blows...

This popped up on a social media feed. How do you mitigate something like this when at a standstill?

I think the truck was just tired; looked like a big elephant that just wanted to roll over.

Seriously, in our part of the country that kind of thing happens quite often. On our way back from FL last week we saw 2 semis turned over after we had gotten out of the trees and back on flat land due to apparent winds/wind whipping.

IMO it's one of the reasons we keep talking about length of the trailer/size of the sail vs what kind of TV a person has. It happens, happens quick and not much way to stop it once it does. Safe travels to all during the windy spring.

holy moly, i have NEVER seen a semi just blow over like that sitting still short of an active tornado situation... I also admittedly haven't driven much out west in the open west... But DANG!

Good grief! We used to see tipped over semi trailers between Cheyenne and Laramie fairly often when living down there. But never saw one tip over, much less while not moving.

Interesting, Tractor probably weighs 30 to 35K be interesting to see if and what the trailer was loaded with. If it was a 53' trailer with a standard 8.5' height that's about 450 SQ ft to catch thew wind. I got hooked on the thread title and was looking for a whale

Out of sheer curiosity I looked this up: A 2007 Kenworth W900 with an 86-inch studio sleeper weighs approximately 19,000 pounds dry weight. Even at that, I suspect the trailer was dead empty and the rest is history.

I'm pretty sure it was too. It was moving too much with those gusts to be loaded.
