Newbie trip results and a question
We just completed a trip from Tupelo to Austin to San Angelo and back. I picked up some interesting information.
First my '07 Ram averaged 12.2 mpg for the 2149 mile trip. I was well pleased with that. Set my speed at 62-64.
Next, got a new toy. A scanguage II. This little device gives a ton of information. I was most concerned to monitor my coolant and transmission fluid temps. My coolant was very consistent. It ranged between 180-195. A couple of times under stress I saw 200. What shocked me was how cool the transmission ran. It was consistent at 130-140! I expected it to mirror coolant numbers. Since cool is better, I was very pleased. In heavy traffic in Austin (a lousy place to pull a fifth wheel at 5:00 in the afternoon) we saw as much as 175. Still good numbers.
Turbo boost was consistent when I needed it, it would pull 22.4. My max number with my no chip 6.7 cummins.
My new Goodyear Endurances held up nicely.
My new Furrion observation camera was a nice addition. Simple to install. My Sprinter was set up to just plug and play. (O.K. so I've picked up a couple of toys).
Now heres what is driving me crazy! Some of these lousy roads beat the dog out of my RV. DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH SHREVEPORT LA.ON I-20!!!! WORST ROAD IN THE COUNTRY!!!
What do you suggest to soften the ride on the RV? What works. It just hurts my feelings to see the beating my trailer takes on some of these roads.
