Replacement Matress

We are thinking about buying a replacement mattress for the main bed in our Raptor. I hate buying on line without being able to look and feel at what I am getting. But does anyone have any recommendations on a good mattress at a reasonable price? Does Camping World have mattress in stock? There's one a couple of hours a way from me

Thanks

Yes, CW does sell mattresses and mattress toppers. If you go online to their website (www.campingworld.com) you can check out their inventory as well as pricing.

X2 on Camping World, But, if you don't want to spring for a new mattress, you might try a memory foam mattress topper. We found one at Kohls on sale $48. We put this on our Cougar's pillow top inner spring mattress. Worked for us. I've also seen foam toppers at our Costco for around $90+.

X2 on this. We put a Costco memory foam topper on our Alpine mattress after the first trip. Mattress went from horrible to better than our home mattress in about 5 minutes. Couldn't sleep on the first trip, and have slept SOOOOO good since. BY FAR, the best mod we've done to the trailer.

X3. On our shakedown trip, first stop was local Wal Mart for a memory foam topper. DW sleeps better in the trailer than at home.

PPL RV online just had their sleep number beds on sale last month, not really on the cheap side though. We picked one up and love it.

We are happy with the low price and comfort of our Ikea mattress. Time will tell if it holds up and is still comfortable.

In our last camper, we bought one online from CW. It was here (WI) in less than two days. from GA. It came rolled up in a box. I think it cost like just under $400. I thought, "waste of money". We followed instructions for opening it inside the bedroom. Couldn't believe how great it slept. I just wish I could have kept it when we traded it in on our TH this Spring. The stock one in our Impact 311 sucks. Have a memory foam topper on it. That helps, but doesn't fix the underlying issue of no support.

Wow here I was thinking that my wife and I were the only ones!

We also have a 2" memory foam topper on our cheap mattress and sleep so much better on it than we do at home on the fancy $3000 mattress! Actually my wife has mentioned getting rid of the one at home buying what we have in the trailer!

We put a Sealy Posturepedic in ours and are happy with it. I don't know why they can't put a good matress in them from the factory. Especially considering how difficult some matresses are to remove from the trailer. Fortunately ours was easy. Our last trailer was a real pain to wrangle that thing out.
If you really want comfort, consider a Sleep Number with a Serta 3" thermal memory foam topper. Thats what we have at home and its EXCELLENT, but expensive. We will likely do this in our next trailer.

If they did, then it would reduce the profit on every RV they make. Keystone, like all other manufacturers, strives to make as much $$$ as they can.

They should, however, attach a warning label to the mattress that reads:
"SLEEPING ON THIS MATTRESS MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH. USE WITH EXTREME CAUTION!"

I got the perfect harmony mattress topper from Camping World. It's 2 inches of memory foam with 2 inches of pillow top on top of that. WOW my bed is amazingly comfortable now and yes, likely better than my $2000 temperpedic bed in my house!

Will agree that the topper was awesome when we first got it. However.....after 2 years of use.....which works out to be about 120 nights....the fluffy soft top was turned into 4 obnoxious hard lumps. We pulled out the memory foam and continued to use it.

Am glad that our Fuzion has a comfortable memory foam king size in it.....We sleep like a baby.

Costco Topper (under $100) what a major difference in five minutes, not better than our home mattress but darn good!

After two years of sleeping on the factory mattress and a CW topper, we have had enough. We are going to make the plunge and buy a mattress before heading out again next spring. The CW harmony topper is not the issue, it is the cheap factory mattress. We are just trying to figure out what we want to replace it with.

If you have a "home sized" queen bed, you can find a replacement mattress at any "bedding/furniture store".... If you've got a "RV sized" queen bed, there is also an endless supply of mattresses from which to choose, but unfortunately you can't "try them out" like you can in a mattress store.

If your budget is "endless" there are several "Sleep Number" bed styles. We chose to go a "cheaper route" and bought the Camping World "Eurotop 2" mattress. We just returned from a 2 month extended trip and never had a complaint of mattress comfort. Ours was bought in 2010 for our Springdale after one weekend of attempting sleep on the factory mattress. When we traded for the Cougar, there was never a question that the mattress would follow us to the new trailer. We've never regretted buying this mattress. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...60-x-74-/75788

The wife hated our mattress in our Raptor and wanted to downsize from the king to a queen to gain some more room. We went thru mattress online.com out of Colorado. They custom made our mattress and fell in love with it over out sleep number mattress in the house. Since purchasing our rv mattress we have purchased three more for our home and can't believe the quality and comfort from them. Ask for Dixie and she will take care of you!!!

We hated the stock mattress from the day we got the trailer. Turns out it was defective and the dealer replaced it under warranty. The replacement was only marginally better so we decided to replace it with a standard queen instead of the rv version. The thinking was that we could use it in the house if needed some day. So that necessitated extending the bed frame by about 6" or so. I would also point out that this mod is only possible if there is enough space at the foot of the bed with the slide-out retracted. Our 329MKS has an inch or two to spare. The mattress just barely kisses the cabinet on the far side of the trailer, but the new support piece is about 1.5-2" away. Here's the mod:

The new mattress turns out to be about 3.5" too tall so it sits well above the little shelves on either side. And this tall guy occasionally bumps his head sitting up since the head of the bed is in the slide-out. So my next mod will be to lower the entire platform by 3.5". That is going to require cutting down both sides and the foot of the bed frame and installing all new framing in place of the sections to be removed. I'll report on that in another post as I get into the project over the winter months.

Try this: www.casper.com

They are currently doing a cross-country road trip. Check and see if they will be anywhere near you.

I couldn't be happier with mine.
