Already a story
Hi Everyone!
Just bought a 2007 Sprinter. This is our fourth RV over the years (fifth if you count the tent).
This one's longer than our last one, and I was very happy to learn that it really would fit in the driveway. It's a little tight backing it in there with trees, a mailbox and a telephone pole to worry about.
Woke up Monday morning and I thought that I would grab the owner's manuals out the the camper on the way out the door to go to work in case I had some free time.
Our last RV was a little lower to the ground. It only had two steps. This one has three. When just hopping in and out of the old one, I never put the steps down...just climb up and hop down.
So I climbed up there with a gym bag over my shoulder without lowering the steps. Found the paperwork and then I realized that it's farther down than the old trailer. With the manuals in the right hand, I decided to turn around, grab the outside handle with the left hand and lower myself down.
The next thing I know, I'm lying flat on my back on the driveway with a snapped-off handle in my hand.
Bonked my head on the concrete. But that only hurt for a few minutes. No spine injury, but the back muscles hurt pretty bad.
Picked myself up. Groaned and thought about waking up the wife. Instead, I decided to go to work. Drove the 45 minutes to work. Felt every bump in the road.
After a couple hours at work, the muscles were tightening up a lot worse. I decided to go home early. The heating pad helped a lot. Took the next day off too.
So it's been five days now. Each day the back is much better than the day before. It still hurts but things are definitely looking up.

Camper Wayne,
to the forum. Seldom do we start by telling new members, "Get well soon" but in your case, it's about the first thing that comes to mind.
Yup, those door handle assist "thingies" aren't built like they used to be. Now they tend to be plastic and break easily. In years past, the screws pulled out of the 2x2 wood framing around the door. So, even though the construction changed, the "weak link" just moved from one component to another.....
Anyway, welcome, look around, and find some topics that interest you, join in the discussions and make yourself at home.

Yeah, I called her from work. She was quite concerned that it would continue to get worse and I would not be able to drive home. She talked me into going home when I did. Good thing too because then I could use the heating pad at home.

That is about the only thing good about lying on your back, most of the time you have to look up!
