You don't need a one ton.
If u go diesel you will hate the mieage.

A 1/2 should still should work ok.

I would go 3500 Dually and when you upgrade to larger trailer you will be ready. I started with a 2500 Cummins towing a 28' Airstream and realized we needed a larger trailer and bought a 40' triple slide T.H.. Then upgraded to 2018 3500 Dually no regrets just a lot more power and room. Lifes good...
