2nd year camper with questions

To go into what transpired as to why the remote system included with my 285rld Montana does not work would take a while. Suffice to say I now have it working on battery only. when the trailer is connected to a/c the lippert remote system will not respond at all.
Lippert states it is not their issue as the remote system does work on battery and they suggest it to be a wiring issue. This is the second year without the use of this option and the third dealer who has attempted repair.

That is sort of a question in regards to maybe someone has had this issue resolved already?

Question 2.
Are the slides supposed to slope away from the main trailer floor?
I can see a problem if the slides were to slope towards the main trailer floor. But I think a flat slide floor would be preferable.
Are they supposed to slope away if so by how much?

Question 3

caulk is missing on the exterior is this silicone that I should re apply?

We have a single slide that, when extended after leveling, the roof slopes slightly away from the RV. I'm not sure about the floor but if it does slope, it isn't very noticeable. As you mentioned, a slight slope away from the unit is preferable to sloping towards the RV. I would rather have the roof on a slight slope away from the 5th.

I would suggest some other caulking rather than silicone. If you were to apply new silicone directly over the old, it would not adhere. Silicone won't stick to itself and needs to be removed entirelyand the surface cleaned before reapplying. I'd recommend Geocel Proflex or some other non-silicone based sealant.

Are you recaulking windows or ??? If you are, it might be best to remove the window and apply a new strip of butyl tape, put the window/frame back in and tighten the screws just enough so that the butyl begins to squeeze out.

So you think it "normal" that the slide floor slopes a bit?

The nose cap where it attaches to the sidewall. The caulk is gone along the seam for about 2 feet.

What are other non silicone based products?

Where do I find Geocel Proflex?

I don't want it to look different though from the caulk that is on now.

I am not certain if it is "normal" for the slide floor to slope but when you extend the slide, the weight of it may cause the slide and the floor to slope downwards. As I mentioned earlier, I know my roof has a slight slope to it but it is away from and not towards the RV. You wouldn't want the roof sloping towards your RV as it would be more susceptible to water to run underneath the sweepers and seals into your RV.

You could also use Dicor non-leveling sealant as this won't run down the sides of your unit. Dicor is also compatible with your rubber roof --- silicone is not. Geocel Proflex is commonly found here in Canada at almost all RV parts and supplies retailers.
