Fuel to Generator/Primer Bulb

Has anyone tried it?
The distance from Fuel Tank to Pump is a long way. Plus a primer Bulb has a. Check valve to keep fuel there.
There must be someone else out there that’s at least thought about it

Just hold the start button to STOP. The fuel pump will run and prime.

I do it all the time on brand new units, takes a bit but they always pull fuel.

I understand what you are saying. Apparently my fuel pump is failing. This was just a thought I had to help the pump. Ordered an Airtex pump at more than half the cost from Onan

I just had a thought. It seems the fuel pump is priming the carb but not delivering enough fuel to keep it running. Is this a pump issue? Or is there possibly a fuse or circuit to keep the pump running at start up

Fuel to Generator/Primer Bulb

Sounds like a pump issue to me. If the gen starts and dies, the start button on the gen might be blinking. If it is that’s a trouble code.

Yes Code 36. Hoping the new fuel pump will cure my problem. Because the next step would be Carburetor.

I just went through this with my Onan last week. 3 years old and 150 hours. Would pull enough fuel to prime the gen, but would only run for a minute or two. Same trouble code, 36. It just didn’t have enough pump left to keep up with the running gen. Easy to figure out, pulled fuel line from carb and placed it in a jug, held down prime button. Very low flow. Replaced filter, still minimal flow. Replaced pump and strong flow.

Was stumped at first, since last month it ran 47 hours straight during hurricane Irma. I suppose it just wore it out.

Replaced the pump tonight and still having the same issue. Primes and starts but dies after a few seconds. I can keep it running with chemtool thru throttle body. I guess my next move is the carburetor.
Is there anything I am missing that would tell the fuel pump to shutdown the generator. Am Electrical fault or anything like that?

Yes sir.
She starts, Runs about 10 seconds and dies. Opened up drain screw to fuel bowl and while holding prime button fuel comes out of bowl. So I know Fuel is getting that far and partially into jets because it half *** runs for a few seconds

May be junk in the bowl. I would take the carb off, remove the bowl and spray carb cleaner in all the passages I could get to.

Put it back together and try it. I’ve had success with some gens.

Yes fuel is good. I keep Seafoam in at every fuel fill. Turns out my Extended Warranty is a pretty good one. Ive compiled a list of problems covered under warranty so we will see.

Update. Replaced Carburetor. Starts right up and runs better than I can remember. It was hard for me to accept that the Carb could be that fragile on these rigs.
