2021 Outback 221UMD TRAILER Coupler Height

Just bought a 2021 Outback 221UMD and will be picking up this Friday from the seller. Could someone tell me what the height to the TOP of the trailer’s ball coupler is from the ground when the trailer is level. The seller has the trailer parked on a slanted driveway and it won’t give me an accurate measurement so I can setup the correct height of the new receiver hitch and weight distribution system I will be using.

Welcome to the forum

If you set the ball at 23” high and a tilt to the rear at 10 degrees, you’ll be close enough to haul it home.

When doing actual setup of the WDH I would assume it depends on the hitch being used. My manual for the e2 hitch states to start setup level the trailer to exact level. Then attach the ball at the closest height possible as if the ball were inside the hitch. Top of ball to top of hitch. Then start making your tilt adjustments from that point. Again, thats in the manual of an e2 hitch, yours may very.

I am on my phone so can't get a link copy, I could send it if I was on my computer. That said, Google search camco r6 instructions and you'll get it. Yours is way different. You start with your ball 1 inch above hitch top. Anyway, just google that there is a very instructive you tube video. Easy peasy setup.

In his FIRST post, OP asked what the height was at the coupler since he wasn’t near it.

Without knowing the coupler height, all the instructions to set it up don’t really help. That’s why I said to set the ball at 23” to get the trailer home, and then adjust.

That's kinda what I had to do as well with my Equalizer. Got it close, and then drove to a nearby parking lot that was level to perform the detailed measurements.
