Awning woes

While opening the last foot the Awening just fell open. I hear the motor but won’t retract. Generator running batteries are good could not get to the nut to retract the Awening so we pushed in the arms and the Awening was sagging upon depressing the keypad the fabric rolled up. Question what does this sound like

It depends on the age and brand of the awning. Some have an internal coil spring, some are direct drive with no spring.

If you have a spring model, it likely snapped inside the tube (this is my best guess).

If you have a direct drive model, the set-screw that connects the motor shaft to the awning tube could have loosened and slipped.
