Question 2024 Passport 268bBH

Was goint to pick up new rig Saturday but was told it will not be ready because the awning will not retract. Said the harness was damanged during build and needs to be repaired? This is a brand new unit? should I be worried? What else am I going to find down the road? Making me a touch Nurvous. Lot of money for it not to be stop on first day.

Sounds to me like you are lucky. Apparently the dea)er is checking the trailer out and is fixing the defect. Campers aren't like the auto industry, rvs are built one at a time, not on an automated assembly line. Be thankful it was found now and not while in a campground where your panicked because it won't retract and you need to get on the road.

Edit: When you do the PDI/orientation with the dealer record evetrhing with your cellphone. Trust me, the amount of information given will be overwhelming and you'll be excited and it's easy to forget some things. Then when you get over the "honeymoon" phase and you go to do something like turn on the heat, or rinse out the black tank then chances are you'll scratch your head and think " now what did that guy tell me to do?".

There is a document somewhere on this site giving you information of where YOU should check things before taking delivery. The dealer is likely to fix these things expeditiously. If you take delivery and get it home and find these things, the dealer may not be so inclined to fix things quickly.

Not to worry you, but get used to it. This is just the nature of the beast with any RV...even brand new, regardless of manufacturer or model. Be glad your dealer actually is going through the unit and found this problem prior to delivery day. This is what dealers are supposed to do pre-delivery, but many do not.

When it's time for you to take delivery, be prepared to inspect/go over absolutely everything on the RV. Have the tech doing your pre-delivery orientation show you how to operate every appliance, convenience and accessory on the unit. Inspect/try every drawer pull, cabinet door, faucet, window shade etc. Inspect the roof and all seals for integrity. Make a list of any items that need correction as you go....the dealer will correct issues MUCH faster if you haven't yet taken delivery.

Here is a link to a document on this forum that discusses what to look for in your pre-delivery walk-thru.

Sounds like the dealer is doing what they should be doing...and many don't. Print that PDI list and go over it before you leave the lot with the trailer. If you've signed the contract you may not have as much clout but it will still be more (haven't taken possession) than it will once you get it home and call them back to schedule a repair for a problem you found...much easier now.

If they found that they are probably using a new RV checklist they have to go over it and check all the operations and functions of the trailer. Ask for that list. The ones I get usually has all the items checked and notes on what was found long with the repair. Have the designated person at the dealership allot a few hours to go through the PDI list and give you a thorough orientation; operate EVERYTHING - it needs to be hooked up to power and water (advise them of this so it can be ready when you get there). Have them show you how you drain the tanks, location of the pull handles etc.

Good luck on picking it up and the elimination of all the little issues prior to taking possession. After you get it home spend some time in the drive hooked up, or a nearby campground, to familiarize yourself with the trailer, hook up, disconnect of everything etc. - then go have fun!

These guys have been Great. The tech took me out to the shop and showed me what happened and what he was going to do. Kinda went over a few adjustments he did to other things. so i feel good about it. We have walk threw this Saturday they said to expect a couple hours to show us everything. Fingers crossed and thank you for the responses. I feel a little better knowing they are doing what they are suposed to do.

Sounds like you have a good dealership doing it "right". That's like finding gold these days.
