Google the Ford OEM Tow Chart for 17`and plug in your drivers side door specs. I still think you will be good, but again really do your due diligence before buying a TT.
Truck has plenty of power, yet you need to take in consideration your truck hitch rating; truck tire load, etc...your payload is respectable.
Hop on over to the F150 EcoBoost Forum...their are a lot of guys running with the aluminum bodies loving the 10 speed transmission while towing.
Don't get me wrong...this Keystone RV Forum is very good and informative for travel trailers; 5th wheels and diesel trucks.... just not a lot of love for the 1/2 ton IMO-lolClick image for larger version

I know nothing about Ford's, but with a half-ton you'll normally run out of payload first.

I'd think the tongue weight on that will be ~ 7760 * 12.5% = 970 plus 100 for the WDH and you'll use around 1100 lbs of your 1890, leaving 790 for folks, dogs, gear etc.

Seems doable to me.

Edit: Is the payload number off of the sticker on the door frame, or out of a brochure? Ignore the brochure and use the doorframe number, or scale it and compare to the GVWR.

I think one of the differences between the tow package and the max tow package with the F150s is an integrated trailer brake controller. If your truck doesn’t have it, you should be able to install the oem brake controller pretty easily. I installed one in a 2016 F150 I used to have. Don’t tow anything that heavy without a brake controller.

At a glance I would say you should be OK. At 7760 you have a heavy load for a 1/2 ton regardless of the engine or media hype. Personally I would upgrade to LT tires and then see if air bags were warranted - maybe even some stiffer shocks.

Just an example of the inadequacy of a stock 1/2 ton: Bought this trailer and I was adamant I would not buy a HD truck due to back problems. Trailer was really too much. Took my first cross country trip. Went through Shreveport, LA then Jackson, MS. In those 2 towns I thought I was going to be thrown through the roof of the truck - slowed down to 45 trying to stay intact. When we stopped in Mobile for the night, opened the camper and found doors open and the sliding bathroom door to the bedroom completely dislodged sitting behind the slide edge and the wood framing torn out.

Got to FL and replaced all the broken "stuff". Replaced tires with LT, heavier shocks and air bags. Next trip was better but still WAY wrong. Got rid of the truck and bought an HD. Came the same way again and I kept telling DW "get ready", it's about to get tough. It didn't happen so figured I missed the spot. Kept thinking "it's about to get tough" through the entire section but it never happened. The HD truck completely resolved the terrible bouncing etc. simply because the 1/2 ton is not built to handle that.

One poster said the site is not friendly to 1/2 tons. I would totally disagree. Many understand the shortcomings of any 1/2 ton in the towing arena - particularly heavier trailers over say 7500 lbs. and we try to make new, or prospective, owners aware of that. You can go to the EcoBoost enthusiasts forum and everyone can pump everyone else up carrying on about the "prowess" of the EcoBoost...right or wrong. Come to a towing forum and you can actually get real info about towing no matter what you drive. I can't tell you how many 1/2 tons I've owned, all US brands, and I love them. I also can tell you unequivocally that they aren't meant to "carry" heavy loads - no matter how much those turbos whine and seem to "swoosh" you along "pulling" x amount of load.

A buddy has the same truck with a very similar trailer and does okay. His WDH needed some fine tuning but is dialed in okay, I suppose. I still think he needs air bags due to a lot of squat. Half tons are just so soft in the rear to make a nice ride that it's hard to get them to have a lot of capacity. If/when you tighten up the WDH you start to lose traction over bumps in the wet weather. Also, being able to go a little heavier on the tongue (assuming you still have the available payload to allow it) makes for a more stable towing experience.

Sourdough are you saying the roads in shreveport and Jackson are terrible? We're about to head out for Florida and planned on going through there, but may stay on 40 to Memphis instead and the
then go South.

I towed with the 2015 F150 for years with our Wildcat. Trailer was a nightmare. The truck did well on two lane roads, through curves and passes. No problems there.

The freeways, whole different story. This was scary. I think he trailer was off, it wasn’t much better behind my F350 or F250.

I sent you a response to your PM. They are bad but not any worse than the other route you proposed.

My friend had a similar weight trailer and same truck had to trade it in because the trailer at 7000 lbs was very unstable. The tail was waging the dog. The aluminum truck was actually too light fro the trailer. He felt it unsafe to drive. He trained it in on a motor home and towed the Ford 4x4.

We have a Bullet 272bhs 6800# loaded and I pull it with a similar truck but I have the v8. It’s does alright on 2 lane roads but the freeway is a nightmare. I’ll be upgrading to a F250/350 soon as it’s financially possible.

FYI you may be ok but the numbers don't lie. I kept my 2013 F150 and gave to the DW, it towed okay but I am so happy I went to a F250, sidewinds were white knuckling me in the 150 here in Texas. Remember they always tell you how MUCH it can tow, do they tell you how long it takes to stop or swerve and maintain control? Good luck whatever you do!

Agreed. My F150 was well within its “capacity” when I had a TT. It was great on 2 lane roads, curves and such. But open flats and freeways, we were pushed all over. I do think the trailer was possessed as it didn’t improve much with the F250 or F350. It tried to push them, but didn’t prevail. Never been so exhausted pulling anything before, and I’ve pulled some heavy, scary loads.

I've got a similar trailer and truck.

Same as the others, winds can be a killer. No wind and it's great! Texas has high winds constantly unfortunately.

I just upgraded tires on trailer (Goodyear endurance) and E rated Bridgestone so excited to see if that helps.
