Storage during Camping Season

I hate having to put the TT in storage during the season. Our next trip isn't until 3 1/2 weeks from now. The HOA gets upset if we have it at the house too long. I feel really bad for the owners of some of the rigs like the beautiful Cardinal behind mine. Their rigs haven't moved at all this season.

I know how you feel. Mine is just sitting in storage getting baked by the sun. My June is too busy with work travel, a wedding, and family events. I don't have any reservations until July 21st.

It's crazy how life can get in the way of camping. I'm looking forward to the day when we go full time.

I am really glad we do not have to endure an HOA, I would have a really hard time with people telling what I can do, with my stuff.

I had a nice pad poured and cover built to store ours, with 30 amp service and water.

Makes a great extra guest suite or drunk tank.

Brian

They are a pain. That is a great storage cover. I wish we had the room and ability to put one of those up.

Mfifield, let me climb out on this limb a little and bring this up: Are you letting a wedding of your step-brother's niece getting married, a baseball game for 12-year olds, graduation ceremony for a grandchild from 5th grade all stand in your way of having a camping trip? If so then you should probably put your rig in consignment and go to the mall and shop for dress clothes. There is a myriad of things to keep a family from spending time at the lake, campfires and burgers on the grill. Give in to them and you won't camp until July 21st.....oh, yeah, I forgot.
Yes, I am having a little fun at your expense, but your time and your family's time together is important, very important. And there is a lot more to gain than watching 5th graders march across a makeshift stage......and then have to drink the Kool-Aid and eat stale cookies.

It's not an HOA for us but our township's building department ordinance enforcement division and the nosy neighbors that report us. The allow for 48 hours of legal RV parking on the street or driveway in cvompliance with all the sidewalk and utility laws. Our "snoopyiest" neighbor just sold their house and the DW and I are excited to meet the new neighbors.

What I woiuld give for an insulated 20x40 concrete floored, and properly wired pull barn in the back yard. The down fall of "suburbia" living.

It's my brother's wedding and I'm the best man. I can't really skip out.

We're heading to the family condo for the week of the 4th of July (Gulf Shores).

Travel for work has been crazy this year. It's what pays for the toy(s), so I won't be skipping that either.

I actually consider the summer an off season for camping. I prefer to camp the rest of the year, when the temps tend to be mild.

Thanks, the guy that built it did it by himself ...oh to be that young again.

Several months after it was put up we had 2 hail storms and the metal roof had to be replaced... the camper was fine except for the spare tire cover and one tail light, so the cover did its job.

I agree 100% about summer camping. 1 or 2 weeks with the grandsons is all. Just Monday through Friday is best too. The other 9 months of the year we spend 5 or 6 months on the road.

We just don't have room for it - we live on an old narrow curvy street, our garage/backyard gate is on a narrow alley and there is no way the trailer can go back there.

So we pay monthly storage. We have a pull-through slot that runs $60 a month in a large paved, fenced lot with a security gate and an on-site guard.

So far we will have been out camping each month from Feb-June (min 4 days, max 30 days) and have plans for July, Aug, Sept. October we will be flying to Washington DC to do the museum tour. Probably Nov and Dec we won't be out camping.

That's a good price for storage with that much security.

I pay $80/month for a covered spot with electric. Padlocked gate and the owner is friends with the local sheriff and police department. It doesn't hurt that his property also serves as the school district bus barn. Location, location, location!

I pay $45 monthly, no cover and electric is 50' away. Would pay $75 happily for a pull through as backing is tight on the 42' 5er

Storage during Camping Season

Our storage lot is a fenced area on a Military base. 2 dollars a foot. No pull throughs and depending on which units are in it can be a pain to back in too. Right now all the ones to the left of mine are temporarily empty. It is all grass, weeds, and a little gravel. I wish we had power nearby too. It would sure make some things easier.

Just relocated to Chesapeake, VA from Tampa. New job. New house...actually found a HOA that allows RV's behind a 6 foot fence. So for the RV pad I am thinking of a gravel pad to start with. It is cheaper and easier to covert back to yard if we ever move again. Any thoughts of best practices for installing a gravel pad? I will install a 30amp service as well.

Congrats on the move and new job. I'd say to put weed barrier down below the gravel and use a reasonable size rock and you should do fine.

I managed to book a site for next weekend. We've got a family event on Saturday afternoon, but I found a COE that's about 10 miles from it.

Now, I just need to fix the hole in my gray tank...
