Furrion Observation Camera

Installed Furrion FRC48 model observation camera. It came paired out of the box and the camper was wired from the factory with bracket. It was wired correctly to the running lights and works great.

Just received mine thru Amazon! Waiting for the first trip of the season. It will be nice to finally see if I'm clear to change lanes or not and reversing.

Not sure which one you bought. I don't see a FRC48. Just the FOS48 or FRC12.

FOS48TAPK-BL which I just bought comes with the camera mounting housing, which for some has already been installed in their RV's from factory. That being said, you can get the same version without the housing but it's actually more money from what I saw...go figure. I'm just going through right now trying to figure out whether my prewire was done incorrectly, or if it's been wired to backup rather than running lights.

Hey Hex, did you have any issues with your pairing? I'm sure mine is not getting power (and I see the running lights are on.

Furrion Observation Camera

Unless your trailer came from the factory with reverse lights, odds of the camera power being hooked to it is slim. Pull the center clearance light and check the connections.

Thank you sir. Especially thank you for your service! Michigan dealer immediately referred me to a local dealer, which isn't worthwhile for something simple like this. Getting out the ladder now!

Looks like the factory crimps may be on non-stripped wire, tried tightening the crimps, I call no joy. I'll have to get a couple of new ones before proceeding. The wires are too fine for marettes

You definitely want the observation camera hooked to running lights. If they are hooked to reverse lights, you can't use it while on the road. If they are hooked to battery, then they are always on. Hooked to running lights, you can decide when the camera is on or not.

I stand corrected, it was the FOS48 that I installed. Purchased from Amazon.

Thor I have not gone on my maiden voyage yet. First trip is in May. That is when I will be able to play with all my new toys! Take a meter and measure the two wires it should read 12V DC if not you may have a loose connection somewhere. I will update how the camera system worked for me.

First trip here in April to a sweet little spot on the obey river. Well, I got the camera working finally. I found that the polarity was reversed from the factory pre-wire. Lost my mind trying to figure it out...unreal. I had a spare wire set from Furrion, so I took a picture of the factory mess, then ran the new one, then found it still didn't work but I knew it had power. Reversed the wires, and it was already paired as it should be. I also found out that the factory did strip the left side light bezel mounting screw into the gelcoat like someone else here mentioned. Also, not sure what the guys used for applying silicone, but it's the worse job I've ever seen of flinging sealant everywhere without even trying to be neat. Contacting Keystone in the morning to have a few words. I'll probably rework all the sealant over this first season, and make it proper. I'm guessing since I already found loose plumbing fittings in the kitchen, that I should check the rest of the trailer in it's entirety! Simply amazing!

My 2017 Montana came with the backup camera installed. So far it doesn't work. It is supposed to have been paired out of the box as well. When I hook up the trailer, nothing. Tried to pair, got an error. Do I need to turn my lights on or is having my truck turned on supposed to work?

The camera power is most likely hooked to the running lights on the trailer. There is a small chance that it is hooked up to the backup light circuit. Turn on the lights and see if the camera comes on. There is a light on the camera that shows if it has power.

Of course, polarity could also be reversed like in thor363's case.

Furring Observation Camera

My 2017 Cougar did not come with a hook up for the observation camera. Can it be powered through the running lights? I am considering the Furrion Observation Camera. Your thoughts.
Thanks for the help

I just got back from my first trip with the Furrion. What a pleasure to know what's right behind the trailer!

I used heavy duty velcro to mount the monitor right on the rear view mirror glass. Now I just glance up at the mirror as normal to see what's going on behind the trailer. I should have done this a long time ago.
