Tow mirrors

Is it possible to add the power fold tow mirrors to my 2017 GMC 1500? I've seen some non power fold ones online for cheap but since I already have regular power fold mirrors I was hoping to get some tow ones.

It's an accessory that can be added at the dealer. I had them added to my 2015 Silverado.

Tow mirrors

Quote here was $1200 to add the accessory Tow mirrors. Now, since my truck does not have the power fold option on the stock mirrors, they would be manual extend/manual fold for the Tow mirrors. But turn signals would work as would the rear facing LED light, heat, and adjustment. That price was mirrors (about $800 for them) labor to install and BCM flash.

For that kind of money I am thinking of just trying eBay ones that still have heat, but no turn signals. And still manual fold and extend, but only $150! Couple people I have talked to so far said easy install and no vibration.

Check out www.1aauto.com I swapped mirrors on my 2016 Ram with excellent results. About 1/2 price of OEM with the same quality.

If your bored, there are at least a dozen threads on this topic on http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/foru...c-sierra-1500/

Do a little searching and you will figure out how it is done.

I have standard tow that don't fold in, but I'm happy with them.

$1200? Ouch! So these cheaper online ones.... Are they just plug and play? I guess I can live without the power fold since I don't even use it now. I see some with little spot lights. Do those work for me although my current ones don't have that? Mine are only heated, turn signal, power fold.

The ones I got for the RAM were plug and play. Power folding, power adjusting, Memory, temperature sensor, turn signal, heated, running light, and puddle light. The only thing missing was the auto dimming feature.

If your truck does not support a function, buying mirrors with additional features will not be supported and a waste of $$$. There may be a chance your vehicle is wired to support additional features, who knows.

I think the quality of the ones I got from 1aauto rivaled the quality of OEM mirrors.

Tow mirrors

Will these work? They don't have the puddle lights or memory. But add the spotlights.

Be careful, the one's you are looking at do not have the temperature sensor. If in doubt call them.

As a side note, I wish Ram had mirrors like GMC and Ford, they are much better. IMHO

I can't speak for the particular mirrors y'all are looking for, but I can tell you that 1aauto is a great company to deal with. We replaced all mirrors AND the headlight lenses on both our pickup and the Excursion and couldn't be happier. They have been around for a number of years.

. IMHO

Can you clarify how to tell if your factory mirrors have the temp sensor or not? I have heard can cause multiple issues if you do have temp sensor and replace with mirror that doesn't have it?

I just purchased tow mirrors from Amazon and they cost 175.00 for the set. Good reviews and supposedly they don't vibrate and plug and play. Easy to install yourself (a lot of vids on U-Tube. Just don't have power to fold mirrors. But if I wanted my dealer to do it almost half of what you were quoted.

My mirrors show traffic, are joystick adjustable, manually fold and have heat. What else do I need? Did someone mention a computer flash? Computer controlled mirrors? What will they think of next? An iPhone app to adjust mirrors?

This guy makes and sells wiring harnesses to make the mirrors work the way you want. He needs detailed information about your truck and he is very responsive. If you are a DIY he also sells a cheaper version.

From the thread linked to above, the temperature sensor is needed if you have a Diesel. Looks like you have gas so you don't need it. Not sure why, but it was explained in the thread. That guy really has done his homework.

A friend of mine put a set screw in the ones he has like this. It eliminated any vibration.
