There are a couple of threads about this type of "trailer" or is it "carrying device" posted. Use the search feature to locate them and see what you think. If I recall, there was some question whether they are considered a "trailer" if connected behind an RV. I'd do some very thorough research of the laws in your state and the states you plan to use this type device. It might not be a bad idea to get something in writing to keep with you (assuming your state says it's legal). The last thing you need is a late Friday evening traffic stop in a little town with a 2 person police department and an officer who doesn't think you're legal..... You can imagine the outcome if you don't have documentation from an authority stating that you're legal......
The website given in the previous post has some pretty outlandish contraptions shown. In one, there's a half ton pickup with a hitch extension used to connect an Airstream travel trailer with an equalizer hitch. And there's a 800 lb+ Polaris RZR in the truck bed. With all the discussions about staying within payload, I wonder how they show this kind of device on their website without getting criticized for overloading the truck and using such a long extension (without stiffeners) to tow an RV. Hmmmmmm
