We purchased a new 2019 289BHS in November and it has the metal surround.

I have a Cougar 26RBS we picked up last July (2018). 2 weeks later we got a call from the dealer with exact same recall. At 90 day checkup in October they replaced it so I believe it is legit

As a follow-up to my post from July 2018, the dealer received the part at the beginning of April and installed it.

Hey folks....I know this an older thread. I was wondering if any of you have purchased an outdoor griddle to cook over the capital grill? Looking for something I can cook hashbrowns, eggs and pancakes on.

Not sure what dimensions you are to be within, but the blackstone 17" griddle has been a wonderful addition to my camping gear.

I also purchased a 28" for home use.

One of my camping neighbors has one...they are very nice. I was looking to see if I could get by with a griddle on top of my outdoor grill that is attached. We take delivery this Saturday...

Yes, this is exactly what I did. I went on Amazon and ordered an electric griddle that I can plug in at the outside kitchen and I set the griddle on the pull out Capitol Grill. It works well like that.

I know Menards sells them as well....I will price them out on which one is cheaper and pick it up. Thanks!

You might take a look at the Sizzle-Q. We had one for years and it worked well on our free standing propane grill.

I don't have a capital grill and I'm not very familiar with their design but I would think there are all kinds of "griddle" tops you could use on it. Previously I used a Coleman Nextrip with interchangeable griddles, now a Weber Q2200 with the griddle but I primarily use (and love) my Blackstone 22" griddle.

At the house here I have 2-3 just flat griddles I've accummulated over the years from some application.

Here's a link to one location that has different kinds of griddles and I'm sure there are lots of other places - just need to know the size of the grill and what you want to use it for...

Yes, I have an aluminum griddle that I use on the Capital. I don't remember the brand since I've had it for years. It has overheated and warped but still usable. Maybe cast iron would be a good choice.

Just wondering if its a common trait of these grills to cook a lot hotter on the left side than the right? Mine sure does!!

Ours does the same. When we went camping with friends over the 4th of July, she gave me some veggie kebobs to cook on the grill and she said to leave them in the aluminum pan they were in. I did them on the right side (less hot)and they turned out well. I think the griddle idea directly on the Capital Grill is probably the way to go.

We purchased a Blackstone 22 griddle last year at Walmart. It has been great. If you want to get in the mood for it watch the movie “Chef”. There also are tv shows on Netflix called “The Chef”. It is inspired by the movie.

Every grilling show I've ever watched advises to make one side of the grill hotter than the other, so maybe it was designed that way on purpose. We have a Capital Grill in our rig, but have yet to actually try it out.

I don't have a Capital grill but from what I've seen in the demo videos is that it has one 8k burner. I suspect the issue of it getting hotter on one side vs the other is either the burner placement or design (I would imagine unintended). In a commercial setting you do keep the various areas of a flat top at different temps so you can cook different foods at the proper temp. With one 8k burner that would be impossible plus designing it so that one side cooked significantly hotter than the other without putting that in writing so the owner would be aware doesn't make any sense. Plus, it would sure complicate trying to use it for a "grill". The griddle tops make sense since they could distribute the heat more evenly it would seem.
