My 1800RB Story, problems, fixes, photos and videos.

.

Been out of trailer camping for 30 years. In the spring of 2017 we started looking at a lot of different RV's. Because we already had a truck we focused on a TT. So after 7 months of looking, handicapping, price comparing and lowballing we ended up with a TT.

The first week of November 2017 we bought a 2016 Bullet 1800RB. The couple that owned it used it for one year and found it to small. Picked it up from the dealer just in time to park it on the driveway for the winter.

I found this site without much trouble and in the last 9 days have had lots of help from the members here.

I have already started the process of making the 1800 ours and better than it was when new. I am thinking some of these RV manufacturing companies could do with a couple of experienced RV owners on the design team. Case in point, the under seat storage in the dinette seats have a plywood piece to lift up. Where do they drill the hole to lift it up . . . . right where the cross support piece of wood is. The first mod I did was to drill another hole ½" away from the other hole. So now I have one hole that does nothing and one hole the serves the intended purpose.

I have already assembled things I need for the 1800 that should have been standard on the trailer from the plant. Some have been delivered, some are en-route from the US, some are languishing in a Canada Post outlet somewhere and some have just been loaded on a container in China. I will keep you updated as these morsels arrive and I mate them with the 1800.

There will be photos. There will be videos. There will be frustration. And there will be lots of questions.

Don't touch that dial !

Looking forward to the story! Due to limited bandwidth on this site, the videos might be better loaded somewhere and a link placed in the thread.

Ordered the following for the lash-up.

For the outside door light, front hook-up light and light in the front storage.

For the light over the kitchen sink to be brighter than the warm white in the rest of the fixtures.

I have another 5 months of nothing but blowing snow, stoking the wood stove, skiing, dodging deer, elk, moose and cougars. No the last one is not what you think.

We live in the Alberta Foothills about one hour East of Banff at 4450' ASL. Lots of snow, a few chinooks and a few tourists in the winter. In the summer you are tripping over all the ice-cream sucking tourists you can shake a stick at.

Hodgy, welcome to the forum from an " ice-cream sucking tourist." A few years ago Memphis tourism broadcast their new slogan all season: Be very nice to our tourists. They are very nice to us.
I don't remember buying ice cream when last in your area, but I certainly remember how beautiful the area is. You won't regret the purchase of the new bulbs. And, like you, I can't figure why manufacturers can't at least put that kind of bulb in on the front end. I guess it boils down to one thing......money.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

I saw that. My Son has had these in his RV for the last two years, no problem.

I had them on for a couple of hours this week and they seemed ok.

I will keep a watch on them though, thanks.

While reading this excellent thread I thought I would go out and look at my set-up.

I was surprised to see how basic the hook on the end of the safety chain is. Does everyone just use it that way or is there a better hook on the market ?

As long as the hooks are rated to carry the weight they will be just fine. I'm sure they are rated for the weight.

Just for future reference this would have eliminated the potential of a problem...

Not to mention that the straight 12V versions have intermittently interfered with TV / Radio

I got down another rabbit trail looking at tire stuff. Ran across this guy talking about renting a Uhaul with Carlisle tires and a tire blow out on his own TT.

His next video was doing a autopsy on one of the tires off his TT. He never identifies what brand they are but shows some de-lamination of the tread. The video is long with a bunch of time showing cutting of the tire, just fast forward through it.
