Screwed it directly on the back of the faucet on the hot side, between the faucet and the Pex connection. The threaded part of the faucet was plastic, so I cut/shortened that up some to allow the back-flow to fit inside the wall. If I had better access to the pex inside the wall, I would of mounted it after a 90 elbow, but that would of required me to cut the pex shorter, and I couldn't reach in there to do that.

We installed this on our shower and it works perfectly. Set your water temp and then simply turn the water off at this valve. When you turn it back on, same temp, no more cold blast.

Finally got to thoroughly use and test the shower shut off valve as described in Trailer Life http://www.trailerlife.com/tech/10-m...h-wash-and-go/
Super easy fix to for us, a nagging problem. How to conserve water while showering in a dry camp environment by taking a "Navy" shower and not getting the cold blast when the shower head is turned back on.
The valve installed in minutes between the faucet and the shower hose. No leaks no problems. Once the shower temp is set simply turn the water off and on with the valve instead of the shower head and voila!! No cold blast between washing and rinsing no matter how many times you cycle it off and on.
Bottom line, This Fix Works!!

I actually bought this thing based on some post somewhere on the forum. Found it the other day sitting on a counter and asked DW "what is this thing"? Reply; I have no idea you have stuff like that sitting everywhere! So now, I remember what it is.....now, if I can just remember where it is and what it is when we return next month from our mountain house....

For those who haven't bought it and stored it somewhere (like Danny) it's available in chrome for $8.99 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/K1140B-Shower...78&sr=8-1&th=1 also available in brushed nickel for a few cents cheaper.

check valves are a good idea but one thing doesn't make since, why would the cold water have more pressure than the hot, its a fluid system fed by the same pump or pressure source, all pressure in the system is equal so it is impossible for the cold to have more pressure, unless you have a restrictor or pressure reducer in the hot line some whare
but yet, the dribble in mine goes right cold also making me wonder if there is something else going on in the facet that allows more cold flow.
Damn now you got my curiosity peaked and I am going to go have to open up the storage wall in the 5th and see how they have it set up....

Prior to the "one valve winterization system" there wasn't a "cold water shock" in the shower. My guess is that the "one way valve" at the water heater outlet has some effect on the cold/hot pressure difference as does the blender valve in the faucet. Back when we had the 3 valve winterization system, I never had a "cold surge"... With the new single valve/one way outlet, I've always understood that is what causes the problem. Several members have removed the one way valve, installed two more 1/4 turn valves and say it eliminates the cold surge.... I did it on the Springdale, but only got to take 2 showers after the mod before the tree fell on it and we sold it, so I wasn't able to verify if it solved the problem. Javi, who hasn't been online recently did the mod and posted that it solved his cold surge issues.

Hey, you're the guy to ask. Is there also a one-way valve at the water heater inlet? I'm asking because I am wondering whether my problem with silt clogging up my toilet inlet is actually water heater sediment finding its way out the cold line due to bouncing while on the road. That would certainly fit all the symptoms I'm seeing.

I've never seen a one way valve installed in the cold water inlet. The only "one way valve" is the one installed at the top "hot water outlet" on the water heater.
As for your "silt problem" I don't think it's hot water related. There's no mixing valve that would combine the hot water and the cold water that flows to the toilet. I can't explain why you're having problems with clogging and it doesn't make any "rational sense" that it would keep occurring....
Puzzles me

I’m with John, never seen a check valve on the inlet side. Between he and I that’s a lot of RV’s.

So as not to hijack this thread, I'm going to post my reply on the thread I already have open for my problem.

So this mod will work on the outside shower too if there is space to get it in there

I’ve also installed this little KES valve too. It works great. No trickle and no cold blast.

I installed the positive shut off but also installed the check valve on the hot side which required pulling the faucet out. The results are fantastic.
