Capital Grill Recall ?

Our dealer is telling us our delivery is being delayed due to a Capital Grill recall and it is illegal to ship the trailer while under recall.

They state the grill is currently being installed in wood and must now be installed in metal.

I've searched here and on google and can't find anything regarding this recall.

Anybody receive anything on this with your unit?
Hopefully the dealer is being honest and not just making excuses

There is nothing listed on the Keystone website in the recalls section. While this doesn't mean that there is not a recall, it's not being publicized by Keystone.

That said, Capital Grills are a "4 star stainless grill" and all that I've seen run in the $1000+ category. I can't imagine Keystone installing that kind of grill in a Cougar, especially when they refuse to install range tops with a "sparker ignition system"... Maybe your dealer can explain further about the delay....

You can check for recalls on Keystone products here: https://www.keystonerv.com/owners/recalls/

Yup, I've also checked the Keystone link through google and nothing. The 2019 Cougar 34TSB does indeed come with a Capital Stainless Grill as it's listed on the features when we ordered it.

I guess I will see when it finally shows up how it is installed. I just don't like to be lied to but I also want to be trusting. It's just weird as most manufacturer recalls are easily found online as soon as they are released.

Thanks for the reply.

The deal sounds kind of fishy to me (sorry). You might just call Keystone with the info you have on your trailer and get their take on it. And John is right, I've not seen any $1000 grills installed on any regular RV I've seen. Maybe they make an "RV" model?

Plus, I would think that for them to have been mounted in wood previously, and all of a sudden they now have to be mounted in metal would have to be because a new law or ruling came into effect. If that was the case they would have know long before it was effective instead of shut down the assembly line and start removing grills to remove them from a wood enclosure then put them in metal??? That doesn't sound right.

Here's hoping there's just some sort of mixup and they get it straightened out quickly for you.

Looks like the 2018 models started coming with Capital Grills

Regardless, I hope you are right and it gets straightened out and we get our camper. If it is not in this weekend as promised after delays we may have to give Keystone a call.

Thanks for the reply.

Hey, hey!! They are putting Capital grills on the Cougars. It doesn't look like any of the ones I saw on the Capital website, but here it is, and sounds pretty handy. Note the little folding wind wings like the ones that came on Coleman stoves 60 years ago.... Looks pretty nifty.

Looks like it is set in a wood frame in that video. Will be interesting to see what ours looks like.

Thanks for finding and posting!

my 2018 369bhs has a capital grill mounted in a wood frame. I have not heard of any recalls nor have I gotten anything in the mail.

Got a call today that the trailer came in today. They have their own PDI process to run it through so we plan on picking it up Monday. I'll definitely be interested in the grill placement.

We have the capital grill in our 25RES Half Ton. It works good as long as the wind isn't blowing hard since the depth of the cabinet it is in is shallow and the wind gets up under it and its a PITA to clean. Other than that its pretty decent. Still prefer my Weber Q.

I wonder what one of those would run as a retrofit into an existing setup.

This is great information. We picked up our 34TSB three weeks ago. Our Capital Grill is enclosed in wood. I'll give Keystone a call. Thanks!

I need to check on the steel enclosure as well. I have several scorch marks on the wood enclosure so there definitely could be a potential for a fire hazard with the old wood enclosures.

Hopefully they do a full recall and take care of those with existing wood enclosures. Especially after hearing BAK has scorch marks.

We have a Capital Grill in our 2019 Cougar 29BHS and it is mounted in wood. I will be curious to see how this one plays out since we haven't heard anything about it before.

Has anyone gotten any official word on if this is indeed a recall? We will be picking up ours next month and need to know if we need to press on the dealership to get it fixed before we get there!

I contacted the dealer here in Colorado Springs that we purchased our Trailer from and they said they had to order the parts and would call me when they come in.
