Thumbs up Casinos can be a great option for overnighting on the road.

Just new to the casino camping and got our feet wet this snowbird season. Posted on my blog our experience and tips we discovered so far and a couple decent casinos we found out west.

Anyone else using the free casino parking as a good quick stop over location during the long travel hops?

Any good casino's you can recommend?

Thanks Ray

Ray,

Thanks for the link to Allstays. Very cool website. Never thought of using Casinos for camping, but great idea.

raytronx, Howdy;

I have a friend that spends his Winters in Mesquiet, NV.
Gets up to 2 weeks at a time from 1 Casino, then his wife
gets an additional 2 weeks. Back-n-forth, like a ping pong ball.
You do have to go inside and play a game every once in awhile...
Kinda like doing asome shopping at the Wal-Mart you're parked at.
Be nice with them ... they be nice with you.

Thanks Hank, we plan to return to Nevada this fall, so will have to check it out.

I'd hazard to guess if they do it often they have a decent solar power setup, in the western deserts solar can keep you powered up pretty nice and that part of Nevada isn't too hot in the winter so they likely don't require AC.

Many casinos cater to the RVing crowd with free fresh water fill and dump stations. Or you just drive to a nearby full service RV park or truck stop and pay 5 bucks to dump.

Surely you gest ... with Hoover Dam within 100 miles power is not a question.
As the dam creates Lake Mead I don't think water is a problem either....and
the Virgin River flows through the back yard of a few of those Casinos again,
water, ... no problem. Back to Geography class you go...

Funny, but I meant how do they get water and power to their Rvs.... Do the Casinos have 50 amp service and a fresh water hose hookup?

I realize this thread is about casinos in the Las Vegas area, but . . . In southern central Oklahoma, right off I-35 one mile north of the Red River, is WinStar Casino owned by the Chickasaws! Supposedly it is the second largest casino in the World. The Chickasaws have built themselves one fancy place in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma (ie, Thackerville). And they are still building! The WinStar RV Park is VERY nice! Not many trees, basically all new construction - the RV park is about 2 years old (?). And it is not free, but it's not that expensive. Full hookups and power to run 3 ACs on the roof!

Disclaimer: I do have a biased opinion about the Chickasaw run casinos and facilities! The money generated from the Chickasaw run casinos and facilities flows back to the Chickasaw Capital - Ada, Oklahoma. And whereas the "newly settled Americans" did not want to share their land with the Native Americans, the Chickasaws have no problem sharing their new found revenge, er, ah, WEALTH with the non-Native Americans of Ada, Oklahoma. For example, my mother joined the Chickasaw Health and Exercise Facility - an extremely nice gym and workout facility, all new modern equipment - for just $15/month (if I remember correctly). I'm paying $70/month at The Y in Dallas and it's not near as nice! Yup, the Chickasaws have saved Ada from the brink of "nowhere" . . . did I mention that my parents live in Ada????? And I remember Chief Bill Annatubby when he worked for my father at Safeway!

Below is a link to the CasaBlanca Casino's, ( no, I'm not affilliated with them),
FAQ page. read down a few and you'll see what they have to say.

Hope this helps.

Seven Feathers

We recently overnighted at a very nice RV Park at the Seven Feathers Casino off I-5 in Oregon. It wasn't free, but with a Good Sam discount and a Player Club (free from the casino) the cost was very reasonable and included 24 hour shuttle to the casino. We saw several RVs parked in the casino lot also so looks like overnighters are welcome there as well.

We stayed at Sunland Park casino in NM. They have about 10 spots with 50amp service. It was 10.00/night. The casino is kind of small, but they have one room for smokers and one room for non smokers. You can't drink alcohol while gambling, and ATMs are outside in a lobby. (this is due to NM laws).

Casino camping

Just saw a review of this book, on this subject, in the recent Escapees magazine. Thought I would share:

"Casino Camping, Sixth Edition Guide to RV-Friendly Casinos"
from Roundabout Publications, 2013
available from TravelBooksUSA.com
ISBN: 978-1885464460
MSRP: $15.95

The author does say that the best areas for Casino Camping are Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Personally, I would add "Native American-owned Casinos" to that.

A Lot of casinos have casino run RV Parks with full hookups and still allow free overnight parking in a parking lot with no amenities

In the shadow of the Grand Coulee Dam, is the Coulee Dam Casino with its six free RV-sized overnight parking spots. Within easy walking distance of the visitor center, dam tour, and nightly laser light show---also all free.

No RV park in town can compare with the convenience and price!
