Who uses a Goosebox?

I just purchased a 2018 369bhs and am in the process of looking for a hitch. I really like the goosebox set up but want to see who has real world experience with it. I am using a crew cab short bed SRW as the pull horse. Its a GMC if that matters, but I am worried about cab clearance. The camper nose has the max turn edges to it. My father has a similar camper and was told you "must have a slider for it" but has yet to slide it back. Anyone want to chime in with a short bed and goose box?

Not sure of what a "goose box" is, but was told by the manufacturer of my 5er that any goose neck type hitch added to it voided the warranty.
B&W turnover with the 5th wheel Companion would be/is what I use. As far as a slider, with noses on most of the newer 5ers I don't think it would be necessary if watched closely in tight turns.

A Reese Goosebox is the only approved "gooseneck adapter" by lippert. They will not void the manufactures warranty due to it replacing the pin box. http://www.reeseprod.com/products/pi...notJoVbxIFMqvl

You're swapping pin box because you already have a gooseneck ball in your truck? If not why the goose box?

Yes I have a 5th wheel gooseneck prep in my truck. Instead of buying a fifth wheel and a air ride pin box, then having to handle a 250-300 hitch in and out. Why not use the goosebox.

IMHO as time goes on the Goose Box will be the Pin Box and system of choice as its obvious benefits are recognized. Yes, it is relatively new to the market place but the goose neck hitch system has been around for decades and preforms flawlessly. Personally I wish I had knowledge of it before setting up my last TV. It is so much easier to add the Goose ball in the TV. The heavy 5th wheel hitch is always in the way, in or out of the truck, and it saves 200 or 300 lbs. of payload.

Hook Oil;
I can only tell you our experience. We had a chevy half ton with a Cougar SGS 28. We had a regular slide fifth wheel hitch on it. It pulled it fine, but I wanted a bit bigger truck pull than we had, so I went shopping and fell in love with the new at the time (2016) Nissan Titan XD diesel. Before I thought about it we purchased it, when got to looking into how the hitch would transfer to it, since it had it's own puck system and goosneck hitch. Since it was so new, we could not find any adapter or fifth wheel hitch to fit. We then looked further and as stated the Reese gooseneck was the only one "Lippert" would recognize as a replacement. We bought it and gathered some friends together to replace. I will tell you it's quite heavy and was a small struggle for 3 of us to get it on. We used it for a season, then decided to trade in for a bigger newer fifth wheel. The gooseneck did fine and pulled well. It is a bugger to hook up, as it has to be pretty well spot on the ball to hitch. We used a plastic yellow pole as a marker to help.
With the new trailer we talked about putting the gooseneck on the new one but a pretty wise older service person suggested we look at the Andersen Ultimate as an alternative. I looked at it and went with it. I do like how it pulls better and is much easier to hook up than the standard gooseneck. The con to it is it has 3 bolts and a pin to take out, if you want to remove it, where as the gooseneck style hitch has just the ball and anchors to remove. Hope this helps a little.

While the andersen ultimate does have 3 bolts to remove, it can be done in 60 seconds or less. I do it all the time as I have to use the bed in my truck. The fact that it's aluminum and only weighs like 35lbs, most of the time I have my wife do it now while I work on other things. Hahaha

Great alternative to the goosebox!

While the Anderson is a great alternative it would not provide any improvement on the solid stock pin plate. The goosebox has a airbag and dual shocks so it helps with the ride. It’s like a better pin box and a free bed all in one. I am mainly looking to find out if I will have clearance issues with a 6.5 bed on a 1 ton SRW GMC.

Hookoil, did you go with the goose box? I just purchased one and it came in today. I'm going to install it this weekend. Just curious if you got one and how you like it?

Please, pass on your experience with the goosebox, also. I will be making the same decision very soon.

I have Anderson gooseneck hitch there is no banging and it added 9 1/2 inches more clearance from the standard GMC cab . I have noticed in the wind I have almost 0 sway and more control over the rig . My Anderson sticker on the hitch says will not void the trailer warranty.

I think your truck has standard bed my 1 ton is 7 ft bed . The Anderson I used is more then enough to clear the bed and fuel cell .

They also advertise up to a million dollars warranty, if a manufacturer fails to cover a problem.

Does Andersen write the warranty in stone? (Sorry, can't help myself)
