Smile Battery box lock

Today after putting my fifth wheel in the shed I wanted to turn the battery switch off and the lock that takes a CH751 key is not working. I can't get it to turn at all. I've had this fiver for 3 1/2 yrs and never had a problem with the lock.

Has anyone had this problem and if so how'd they go about fixing it? Can I just drill out the lock?

Thanks

CH751 is an absolutely terrible mechanism... what you have to do is put the key in and shake it profusely and it will turn over eventually. Lots of replacement options out there if you can get it popped.

Have you tried to lubricate the lock? Spray some lubricate in to the cylinder and work your key in and out several times. It just might free up your bound up tumblers.

Well I worked it back and forth and then tried the WD40 and it rolled over! Thanks. On my way to find another lock.

I would not use any oil based lubricants in a lock, I use powdered graphite in mine, it works great.

oil based, in locks, tends to attract dust and things eventually get worse.

I use silicone spray on everything. Unless you're using the silicone WD40, regular WD40 is for rusted bolts, otherwise it's just a dust/dirt magnet.

And another thing to try is another key. You should have several. My 1st try is lube and than a different key. Destroying the lock the last.

Yup! My personal ring at work has 4 different CH751 keys.
