Nice to be "home"!

After 2 disastrous attempts to purchase a used Class A motorhome (horror stories for other times and places), I figured "Someone Up There" was *emphatically* telling me something...

So last week I bought a 2000 GMC Denali and a 2005 Keystone Cougar 294 travel trailer instead.
I have the Denali in my driveway and am picking up the TT on Sunday.

I plan on Full-Time living in this rig, as I'm selling my house and "down-sizing" my life.
I'll be staying here in So. Florida until next Spring, then...?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning from all you Experts as I ask "Newbie" questions left and right!
(Grin)

Real happy to be here,
Ron

Diceman719,

to the forum and to the Keystone RV family. You said you were looking for advice from the "EXPERTS" well, an "expert" is a "has been" who normally drips but is now under "pressure" Hmmmmm and we all "has been" new to Rving at one time or another and we all function to "drip" information to new members pretty well "under pressure" so ask away and we'll try to get you an "expert" answer to your questions as best we can.

You may want to download the PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) checklist that's found in the first thread in Keystone Questions section of the forum. Although you're probably not buying from a dealer, and even if you are, the purchase agreement may not include all the things found on that PDI, once you get it home, that checklist will be an excellent guide for you to follow to inspect your "new to you" RV to make sure all the sytems are functional and that you put "hands on" the parts you'll need to check during that first good checkout.

Any questions, look for answers using the search feature found in the blue stripe at the top of every forum page. If you can't find what you're looking for, start a new thread in what you think is the appropriate category and fire away. Someone will come to bat and give it a shot. Usually several of our experts offer advice and they almost always agree with the correct answer.

We welcome you to join in and become a regular contributor as well.

Enjoy your time on the forum, we're happy to have you join us.

The story of my 2nd motorhome attempt can be found here:

*This* one convinced me to go the TV/TT route (so to speak)...

Yes, they took it back - I didn't give them much choice!
(Grin)
They were actually pretty good about it, apologizing all over the place.
Last I heard they were towing back to Kissimmee.

I ended up buying the Cougar from a local private seller. He and his wife lived in it for 2 years, and took GREAT care of it.
Everything looks brand new!
(I pick it up in the morning - WooHOO!)

These TTs don't have generators in them, do they?

I don't know of any travel trailer that comes with a factory installed generator. Some fifth wheels do, but I'm not aware of any travel trailers that do. Really, with the suspension in the middle of a travel trailer, you really wouldn't want to be "buzzed" around by the vibration of a generator stuck in a cubbyhole anyway. If you need a generator, it's best to buy one that sits beside the RV, that way you don't have the vibrations transmitted to the chassis AND if anything goes wrong, it's already "a fur piece away" LOL
