Any one going next year I have found some parks have lowered there rv parking. This will be my first time attending Sturgis because the spaces are under 50$ http://shadevalley.com/ Any one going send a PM.

Re: Sturgis Sd rally 2017

Unless you're looking for the total campground experience rather than the rally experience I'd stay a lot closer to town. Give this campground consideration. http://www.vanockercampground.com/ They are actually INSIDE the city and easy access to everything going on. I also would look askance at any rally rates of $50.00. PM me and I'll get you my phone number and we'll talk. We've been there a number of times and I can pass on a little info if you like.

Re: Sturgis Sd rally 2017

Shade valley is 11 miles east of Sturgis there is a shuttle from the park. The specials are 13 nights. I chose the 30 amp ele only 30 by 60 lot. Sturgis has become SD state fair not appealing to me its what it is.

Re: Sturgis Sd rally 2017

Enjoy the rally but it's not for me. The places to ride around Sturgis, well that's another thing totally. I would go back to ride there again anytime. Sounds like a nice place.

Some day I'll see and ride Sturgis, but not during Sturgis, if you catch my drift.

We were thinking that would be a good time for us to go back but we were thinking maybe going the week before so we wouldn't have to deal with as much traffic. Went to 75th but there were so many bikes we didn't get to do as much as we'd liked to have done. Glad to hear you had a great time and got back safe!

Exactly what I did this year. I stayed 1.5 weeks at Shade Valley & got a lot of riding done without the crowds, then left half way thru the rally. I'll be doing the same next year. There was quite a bit already setup & ready the week before the rally.

This was my third time staying at Shade Valley. Highly recommend it.

We stayed for 4 days in Sundance, WY this year, which allowed for some nice riding to the outlying towns and parks without being overcrowded but still close enough to ride into Sturgis for the day. A few years back, we had a great stay at the Broken Spoke campground, actually kinda quiet campground and had a number of good concerts. But with Full throttle Saloon taking over the bar/concert area figured the crowd might have changed some. But as for the crowds, some of the congestion and people were worse in Yellowstone than what we ran into at Sturgis.

Wife and I have ridden our bikes to Sturgis 4 or 5 times over the years. Usually stayed in Rapid City as hotels were reasonable (for Sturgis that is). Now that we have bought a toy Hauler this camp grounds looks like a fantastic deal as it also includes DA BUS which hauls you to the different venues (while you have beer ) so you can get around and not drink and ride/drive. Anyone else stayed at this place and any feedback ?
