Am I crazy??

Been shopping trucks non stop lately and I keep seeing this one on a little lot on my way to work. Finally googled the name of the lot and looked at it in the inventory.
https://www.autotruster.com/mobile/m...x?vid=15243641
I understand the rep behind the 7.3 and it's a clean "low miles, barely broke in diesel" but can't figure out the price. Even if I Blue Book maxed on options I can't come up with a number higher than 9k(listed at 16k)
They don't have a pic posted but they've got a lifted Ram 2500 next to it with light bar with many other "bro" features like a big rally type gear basket(that is 7 feet in the air) and offset wheels. It's listed at 22k and 8 years newer...

Am I crazy, or is this truck really worth 16k?? Just not adding up in my head.

Sounds like it is probably a typo. That price is ridiculous.

Likely NOT a typo, there is a dealer up in Puyallup, WA that finds low mileage pre emissions diesels then asks extremely high prices for them also.

The problem is getting a loan, since it’s worth about $7,000 you would have to come up with a huge down payment or pay cash.

Regardless of what engine it has, I'm sorry it's a 20+ year old F O R D, wouldn't give 1/2 of that price. Can't help but wonder if it's such a valuable truck why is it such low mileage, has it been in the shop 1/2 it's life.

Exactly my problem with the whole thing. Should have mentioned it's just parked with the neon green "97 DIESEL" in the front window. Had 8 figured in my head then looked and saw 16 and just got my head shaking.

I heard of a '99 on Ebay going for $35K but it was a lot newer with less than 1000 miles Might see what I can do to dig it up

Out here the OBS pre emissions trucks command a high price. Low mileage can be for the same reason my ‘94 only has 75,000 miles on it. And it’s NOT because it spent any time in a shop.

The pice looks high for a 2wd truck, but the NADA guide does show these trucks holding a high value given the age. Even if you look up a 4wd on NADA they give a high retail number is a $1k lower than this place is asking.

I agree, I would think it is crazy to pay that kind of money for a 20 year old truck.

In my area of the world there are no survivors after 20 years of salt. My thoughts... Check the Carfax. find out all you can, crawl under it, look for leaks. If all look good, and it tests drives well, make an offer, I would think they have no more than 5 in it. Remember, you are taking all the risk. At 20, there is a lot of stuff ready to go south.

Good point. We have our boat show next week so will be super busy until the show opens. Hoping to go look at it after that. Only problem is I'm sure they will find my offer offensive. I don't really care what they thing the truck is worth, I know what its worth to ME. Would have to trade my Honda which books at basically my payoff amount so not really getting ahead if I did want to pull the trigger.
May have to suffer with the 1/2 ton a bit longer. We have always called the truck Capt Kirk because he always brings us back from adventures out in the middle of nowhere. We keep considering calling the trailer Spock because hes always holding Kirk back.

Okay, some might call me stupid, but back in November I picked up a 2003 F-350 CCDRW with a 7.3L with only 131,000 miles. The interior, and engine where in almost showroom condition, the exterior needs some touching up has some scratches and the passenger side dually fender needs replacing because it has a crack in it. This kind of find in my area doesn't last long, I looked at the truck at 11am, went too my bank, got the money and was back by 4pm and as I'm looking over the truck one more time with my friend, another guy walks up too buy, but I bet him by 20 minute's. The guy was asking 16K he took 14K cash

Congratulations! Sounds like a good deal. Those old Cornbinder 7.3s with low miles are like gold up here in Canada. Noisy but that means it's running.
