Who thought of this poor design?

Not sure what length the gutter channels come in when manufactured but there are two lengths on the right side of my trailer that join behind the awning right above the entrance door. This joint is leaking (gonna go re caulk it today). Why not put the joint any where else there is not an opening to the inside of the trailer?
The bigger problem is that water leaking from the gutter is coming through the door seal and has collected on a rubber backed throw rug so the rug is wet,and there is quite a bit of moisture in it. I do have a large Damp Rid bucket in there and I am gonna pull the rug to dry it out, but should I be worried about the door seal too?
Is there any way to realign the door for a tighter seal?

Update, just got done resealing gutter joints. Measured from the back it is roughly 16' to the joint and 12' from the front, so if it was 16' from the front that would put it over the window on the right side. On the left side the joint is about 6" in front of the slide opening which is fine by me.
Just downloaded Tapatalk so I will see if I can post the photos from my phone without downloading to the computer.

I know exactly what you mean! I too have the same exact leak in the exact same place.
When you step outside and it's been wet, you get a drip exactly in the middle of the back of your neck. Exactly in the right place at exactly the right time.
Sorry for using exactly so many times, but if you had this leak, you know (exactly) what I mean................LOL

I will post pics tomorrow, seems I forgot my password to log into Tapatalk to post photos so I will pull them off the phone and upload tomorrow.
Very easy fix cleaned out as much of the old caulk I could and put a new bead in each side.
tjkarch60 what model TT do you have is it the same as mine? Model is in my signature

Pictures, When get more time I will try to fabricate an insert to bridge the gap between the gutters but a new bead of caulk will do for now. I created a new album on my profile with more pictures

Very common on ALL brands of RV’s. They always seem to be in the most annoying place too. Your not alone.

Chuckster,
Any wise words? No my work is not pretty but it is not really in an area that gets a whole lot of looks, like I say it is just a temp fix.
My other concern is the door seal. There is no damage to it it just looks like the door can go into the frame a little farther the latch is tight and there is a little give when you put pressure on it is there any adjustment for the door?

If the door seals and is tight, leave it alone. We simply clean the rail and apply a good amount of silicone.

I've got the same damn thing on my trailer. Annoying as hell. Why they couldn't make the seam somewhere else is beyond me.

ADQ K9,

On one of your photos posted in the album, it looks like there's a "hole" behind the gutter molding where the two pieces join. If that was taken after you applied the silicone, you might want to crawl up there and check to see. Sure looks like water will run behind the molding at that point.

But but but if they took an extra 3 seconds and maybe $3 worth of gutter to ensure the joint was not over the center of the door they’d have to raise the price of the RV by at least $10,000.

Had the same problem on the previous Cougar. Installed these on both doors. Helped to solve the dripping on your head problem when exiting the TT.

My Jayco and my sunset trail both put the gap in the gutter above the door. My Montana did not.

Bought these back in 2015. May still be in stock.

The "drip cap" comes in different sizes to fit almost any RV door or hatch. Here's one 28" size, listed on Amazon, but they are available at almost any RV dealer parts store, most online RV parts sites and even at some hardware stores and "big box" stores.
