How much propane?

I have a 2510RB, and we are heading out for our last trip tomorrow. Predicted lows in the upper 20's - low 30's. Only 2 nights, and I have a completely full 20# tank, and the other nearly empty. Gas use other than the furnace will be minimal. I've never camped in temps that cold, so I have no idea how quickly I'll go through propane. I assume I can make it 2 days on a single 20#?

I get that question all the time during walkthroughs. My answer: it all depends on how much you use. In this case you should be okay, but if your trying to keep the trailer 75+ degrees the entire time, you might want to fill the other cylinder just to be sure.
Propane doesn't go bad, so it's okay to store for the winter.

It's better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

No truer words have ever been spoken !!! Somehow, there's nothing quite iike waking up at 3AM, shivering and realizing there's "frost" coming from your nose with every breath.

To the OP, if your "second tank" is almost empty, it's well worth the $12 to fill it before leaving home.... Like American Express, "Don't leave home without it."

I would fill the other on. The Only time you run out is after 3:30 AM when it is freezing, raining or snowing.

Camping in Colorado is always an experience - could be 70 today and below freezing tonight...with snow tomorrow. One full tank would probably do it, but hey - I always error on the side of too much instead of too little. I have a couple of extra tanks that I keep full here at the house...use them for the bar-b-que or the RV, which ever needs a full tank. Before we go out I always want two full tanks...just in case.

It does depend on how hot you want it and if you are running it 24/7 or just at night. We always have extra covers available and in real cold weather I carry a third tank just un case. Always tell the wife if it is cold at midnight I can change it but if we run out at 4 in the morning we are getting up in a cold trailer.

Definitely fill the second one. If you are camping at a site with shore power, I recommend bringing an electric heater to supplement the propane furnace.

2X on the oscillating electric space heater. We were glad to have it in Door County, WI a couple of weekends ago. It helped keep the living area toasty and we used much less propane. If you're paying for an electric hookup why not use it. One word of caution. You may not be able to operate the electric heater at full power without popping the breaker. We ran ours at the half power setting after it blew the breaker on full power. We had no more issues after that.

Filled the 2nd tank at the campground, but never used it. The campground host removed the tank, filled it, then returned it. He even connected it back up and used leak detector on the fittings. Great service!
My water hose did freeze, but I had a full tank. It thawed by mid-morning. Camping in the cold weather was a great time.

jkohler70, Howdy;

Good for you. Now, if you weigh the tank you used you will
be able to 'see' how much propane you used and can use that
as a "gauge" as to your usage in the future. Something to think about.
