Attwood Fridge

I thought I would come here first before I called the dealer and looked like an idiot for missing something simple. Any help on this issue would be great.

I woke up one morning to find my ice cubes melted and the fridge at room temp while plugged into 30 amp svc at the campground. Lights were on inside and outside of fridge. I switched over to gas and it fired right up and worked fine the rest of the trip. I then plugged it in at home and ran it on A/C again. Nothing!

Am I missing something? It is getting power on A/c with the lights working but no cold. The fuse is fine and no breakers are tripped.

What am I missing? I am not very technical in theses things so I wanted to touch base with everyone here before taking it in for warranty work. Any help on this issue would be great.

If you go to the top blue bar on any forum page, click on the "SEARCH" button and type in "atwood" or "attwood" in the box and click on search, you'll find that in the past 6 months there have been at least 20 threads submitted concerning this, or a similar power/cooling problem with Attwood refrigerators. Read through some of them to get ideas about things you might try before resorting to the dealer for warranty work and replacing the control board.

Here's a sampling of what I just found:

On my search using "ATWOOD" there were 152 hits and using "ATTWOOD" there were 18. about half of the returned results were related to Atwood refrigerator issues.

Good Luck with your reading. Chances are you'll find a number of things that worked (and didn't work) for others with your same issue.

Hmm? I did not know that. So maybe the GFI tripped?

GFI being tripped is a possibility. Also, have you checked to make sure it's still plugged in (that the cord hasn't come loose somehow)? Open the utility access door outside and you should see the power cord and the outlet it's plugged in to (normally on the left side, and 6-8 inches from the bottom).

Same problem at the start of the season. Sure enough, it was the GFI. Good luck.

If, by that, you mean that it doesn't have a reset button on it, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's not GFI. Most of the outlets on your rig are GFI and are wired to the outlet that has the button (most likely located in the bathroom, but I've seen some rigs have the one with the button be located in the kitchen area). So, if the outlet with the GFI reset button has been tripped, most of other outlets lose power as well.

Hope that helps.

Well, that wasn't it either. Sounds like a trip to the dealer is in my future.
