picking up our first FW next weekend.

Wife and I traded our hideout 38bhds for a 2014 Laredo 329re. Absolutely love the floof plan. Daughter is in college, and won't be camping with us as much, so we got rid of the bunk room for a much larger living area.
New to FW, and have been reading as much as I can about setup, hitching ect. Researching hitches now. Still unsure if I'll need a slider. Neighbor has same truck as me, Ram CC 6'4" bed with a non slider, so im going to use his truck to pick the FW up. I'll get a better sense then if I need a slider.

Very nice 5er. Look into the Reese Goosebox, you wont need a slider or a big heavy hitch in the bed at all. I love mine and wouldn't go back to a standard fifth hitch.

Smile Sliding Hitch

I have a short bed ram 3500 with a Pullrite Superglide hitch. The superglide will automatically slide the FW forward or backward to ensure that the FW and the truck don’t kiss each other. If you don’t have a sliding hitch, your FW and the truck will kiss each other, you can count on it! My first FW and tuck kissed each other and I ended up replacing my back window. When I purchased my 3500 I had the superglide hitch install and haven’t had any worries since. You can get by without having a sliding hitch, but repairing your truck and FW can be expensive.

We just got our 333MKS and have had it in some tight turns. Always seems closer than it really is to the cab. Have the slider by default (came with another TV) not sure we'll ever use it. Good luck nice rig.

Congrats on the new 5'er!

Very nice rig! The Slider hitch is definitely the best route for a short bed pickup. Your maneuverability will be so much better with it, but without it, you have to be very careful about the cab and 5'er touching! That's never a good thing!

Like the floor plan. Really great kitchen. Looks like you'll still have room for daughter if she can join you sometime.

Our first fifth-wheel, we had a 2500 Ram short bed. We didn't have a slider and got by just fine. You have to remember to be careful if backing into a tight turn. We got into some pretty tight places and never hit the cab.

Congrats!

With the max turn technology, 79 Degree Truck-to-Fifth Wheel Turning Radius, you won't have a problem with the short bed and standard hitch.

I've backed into many tight spots with no problems.

Enjoy your travels.
