Caught that on the news this morning. Looks like the Suburban got the whole thing going. Mind you the semi was definitely going too fast and no 4 ways on in the dense fog. Fortunately only one serious injury. Will be a nightmare for the insurance companies to work out. Like fingers pointing every which way.

Hardly the Suburban was following directions of the state trooper, to get around an accident a head of him. Heck the semi hit two other cars before the suburban!
The semi was driving way beyond his vision!

Not sure where you see a Suburban. A Blue Oval was towing the Imagine TT.

The semi driver should have the book thrown at him and his license revoked. It was a miracle he didn't kill a half dozen people or more driving like a maniac.

Does the red SUV on the highway collide with the semi first and push him off the pavement?

No SUV will push a 18 wheeler anywhere in a crash. (Well sometimes a few inches) If the 18 wheeler stayed on the road it would look like a bowling ball hitting pins. Only a guess, I think the truck was trying to get off the road to avoid the stopped vehicles when the driver realized he was not stopping. Did he see the people standing nearby? who knows.

A later story says the semi driver was trying to avoid the red SUV that changed lanes in front of him (and then hit him anyway) when he jackknifed.

Here's another little clip about the accident (top video). The semi, IMO, was wreckless in the extreme. Initially as he came far into the traffic congestion a SUV tried to pull over as directed by LEO...adamantly. Semi was going so fast not only could he not do anything about it, heed the LEOs directions or anything else; he plowed through them all. Probably looking at his smartphone and texting never realizing what was playing out in front of him....in the fog....at 75mph.

Maybe not a "Suburban" as reported on the Texas tv station but the SUV hit the corner of the semi. Not talking about the Ford Expedition towing the Imagine TT.

That's crazy! Weight police wanna chime in on that expedition towing a 7000+ GVWR trailer?

There was a News Crew already filming the crash, you would think that there would be warnings up the road!

Depending on the options on that Expedition, it may be capable of towing up to 9300 pounds (2x4) or 9200 pounds (4x4). So, until someone posts the yellow sticker and the VIN (so the weight police can look up the window sticker and see what was OEM options on the vehicle) we're probably not going to get any "weight police input".....

Agreed. But, we weren't there, don't know the circumstances. The semi was going too fast for conditions, but if they had posted another patrol car a quarter mile upstream, this might have been avoided. I saw the full clip on another website. It was a crash scene and all traffic was stopped in the roadway just prior to what this clip showed. Pretty obvious from the other clip that the semi driver didn't see what was happening until it was too late to avoid it. I hate fog! I've been in it where I could only see 100 yards ahead of me and other truckers would be blowing by me at 60+ mph.....crazy. He was definitely going too fast for the conditions.

I agree. Weight police would be a little premature...BUT, did you look how that Imagine just fell apart? And here I was seriously considering a Grand Design!! (Just joking)

Watch the first two seconds of the video. The Semi comes out of the fog and starts crashing into vehicles from the earlier accident. Semi was going to fast for the conditions and was cited according to the followup.
