Rear awning won't close all the way

After our third trip out with the new toy hauler, the rear awning won't close all the way, it stops with the awning hangout out about 6-8 inches. I can't see anything physical/mechanical that would explain the problem, nothing appears bent or damaged. Is there some sort of tension adjustment screw (like on a garage door opener) that might need to be adjusted?

The awning is a Carefree brand, serial number brings up "Freedom SUT" as the model.

As a rule electric awnings don't have a tension spring. Have you tried manually pushing the arms in to see if they are binding? If they aren't then it should be taken back to the dealer for warranty repair.

May seem dumb but is the fabric ABOVE the roller or below it? it should be ABOVE the roller.

I did try pushing on it a little while my wife pushed the button to retract it. Didn't make any difference as far as the motor stopping before it closed all the way, but the arms were definitely not binding. Everything looks like it's aligned properly and moving freely.

The fabric appears to roll up from below the roller, but it seems to be designed to go that way (see pics), I don't see how it could work any differently. The pics show it extended out a bit, then retracted as far as it will go before the motor turns off.

Now that I see which awning it is, Click on the link below. It has the service manual for setting the "limit" switches. Most likely that will fix the issue.

Thank you! I'll play with it tonight. Seems odd that this adjustment would change though, it worked correctly the first dozen or so times after purchase, then started acting up at the end of our last trip.

Thanks chuckster! That did it, a few turns of the "in" limit screw and it's working great again!

Has anyone had problems with this awning falling off of the rear of the rig? Mine had all the screws pull out of the top attachment.

Funny you should ask. Last trip out, we had the wind kick up suddenly...before I could get it closed, a couple screws on the left side pulled out. I still need to get on the ladder and figure out the best way to fix it. I don't think the factory does a very good job of mounting them. What kind of trailer do you have?

I have a Keystone Raptor 425TS. At this point i'm debating weather to put the awning back on. It seems extremely heavy to be attached through the available substrate. There is just so much movement at the rear of these rigs.
