Tires

Just curious, can mud tires like Mickey Thompson tires be used for RVs?

Could they and should they are 2 different questions. Why you're wanting to use them is a necessary question to understand your end game.

First consideration would be if they have the capacity to carry the weight safely. Since the trailer tires are non-drive tires, what advantages would such an aggressive tread give? Just my opinion but I'm not seeing any up side to doing this. I'm glad to be educated, so I'm waiting to learn some more.

If the tires will fit the wheel wells (or the trailer modified so they fit), if the tires are rated to carry the weight of the trailer and if the wheels are wide enough for the tire mounting recommendations, then they would probably work.

If you're looking to do something like these photos, then realize that Keystone (and almost all other manufactured travel trailers) simply don't have the structural rigidity or strength to be towed like these trailers. Trying to do so would probably mean that your trailer becomes a "one season toy". They aren't engineered or designed to be subjected to this kind of use and probably would "self destruct" if subjected to this kind of use...

John (JRTJH) thanks for the education. Now I'll probably just have nightmares going forward.

We made a couple of wrong turns in the mountains of Colorado back in the 70's. We were towing a 20 ft Jayco "JayRaven" with a Dodge 4x4. Trust me when I say that "mud grips" on the trailer doesn't make it any easier to get unstuck from the side of a mountain. Actually, it took 2 jeeps with winches to pull us off the edge of that cliff and I swore that I'll never, EVER pull a trailer down a dirt road again if I don't know exactly where it goes !!!!!

Some of the toyhauler pop ups come with very aggressive off road tires also, for whatever reason other than the "cool factor".

Like the guys who have a 4x2 pickup and put mud or off road tires all around. They like the looks.
