Hello ksstick
The first thing you want to do is check what the tow ratings are on your vehicle. Not all 1/2 tons are the same. There is alot of good info on this sight on towing. Just make sure you don't max your self out. It can get ugly.

Given that its gross weight is 8000, it's pretty iffy. Its loaded weight will be near 7500. My trailer's running weight is about 6000, and it's a comfortable margin of safety.

I almost bought that trailer last year. the dealer assured me no problem with 1/2 ton. I have an '08 Ram with 5.7 Hemi and 3.92 gears. I could have pulled it, but is was more than I was comfortable pulling with a half ton. Probably couldn't do it within limits of the truck, but most all I know, don't worry about GVWR. It is also awfully long for a short box quad cab truck in my opinion.

I don't recall you mentioning TV wheel base.

Here is information on TV to trailer length. Scroll down to post #7 JRTJH
one of the Moderators responses and follow the link.

Remember that the salesperson will most likely tell you anything to make the sale (not all of them but enough to warrant you doing "due diligence").

By the way weights do matter. It is the law and if you were involved in an accident and your insurance co discovered you were operating outside of it you can bet there would be coverage problems. Stopping ability is even more important than being able to pull it.

If you do a search on 1/2 ton towables and Polar Packages here you will find many threads indicating that not all is as it is marketed.

We pull a '13 3220BH with our '12 Ram 1500 5.7 Crew cab.
The truck has lots of power to pull it, but the length is really too much for a half ton, even if you have a longer wheelbase. I'm investing in a Propride hitch to make towing less intimidating.
Unless you REALLY want it and are willing to invest $2500+ in a hitch I would suggest not going over 17'. If we could do it over again that's what we would do. Now that we have it, we can't live without some of the features, and would take a real kicking on the trade, so the Propride is the lesser of evils.
Our current Reese dual cam hitch setup just deosn't have the "meat" to tame the sway provided by 32' of side area pulled by a half ton.

i have a 2012 model when we got ours i had a ram 1500 quad cab short bed truck (with the 4.7) it took a lot of time and cash to make it ok at best! i changed gears, cams, intake, resse dual cam sway control. after one to many white knuckle trips i traded the truck for a f250 diesel. i'll never go back 70 mph down 95 getting 19.5 mpg! verse 7 mpg at 60! after the f250 was stolen went bigger f350 dually and the mileage is still amazing.

passport 3220bh

we have a 2011 3220 bh - and real life experience - I had a 2008 f150 - super crew cab, 6 ft bed, towing package.....we pulled our 3220bh for a year and half...and it just did not cut it - hills, sway, the camper is simply too large for a truck that size and that light -- the camper is like a giant sail when the wind hits it and the truck was not big enough. we traded the 150 for a f250, super duty diesel, quad cab, 6.5 ft bed, towing package, 4x4 - HUGE improvement. if I had to do it again I would have bought the 250 and then the 3220 bh....but the dealer convinced us the truck was more than capable...it was...on a flat road not far from home...but we want to travel....and go places...the f250 is the way to go. Think of it this way -- the rv dealer's job is to sell you the largest camper possible and assure you your tv is fine.....do more research and ask questions...I wish I had....

good luck!!!!

I have a 2013 3220bh and pull with a tundra crewmax 5.7L 4.30 gears and a blue ox hitch(very simple and heavy duty...LOVE IT). I have put over 3000 miles towing already in one season. I have pulled flats, eastern mountains, missouri ozark hill,s in head winds and crosswinds, rain and snow. Would I rather have the mpg of a diesel, yes. Would a longer wheel base be nice, sure. BUT, I have never had any sort of "white knuckle experience" towing with my tundra. I don't know what 1/2 ton you have but my experience with my trailer and truck has been nothing but AWESOME!...except for 9mpg but I expected that.
