Depending upon what make & model of fridge you have, it is a fairly simple job. On the Dometic RM2351 and RM2354 models, access it from the back and there is a short flexible plastic tube. It's just a matter of removing it from the outlet nipple and replacing with a new hose. The outlet is in plain view.

On the other RM, DM and NDR models, the outlet is higher up and isn't in plain sight. You'll need to "feel" your way up the hose to find the junction where it meets the fridge outlet. It's there - just a bit harder to access and see.

Drain hoses should be available at most RV parts and supplies retailers.

Since you didn't specify what make/model of fridge you have, I just included some information for Dometic.

Is it possible to use a rubber hose instead of the plastic tube that looks like wire loom

I had to replace ours a couple of years ago and I just got some clear rubber hose from the local hardware store and haven't had any issues.

Here's how I replaced mine.

http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5936

I never did take any pics of the finished job. I bought some clear tubing from Home Depot. With my fat hands I wasn't able to reach in and tighten a hose clamp around the hose. So I just removed the drain cup inside the fridge. It came out fairly easy. Its only held in place by the fridges insulation back board.
The hose was a nice snug fit onto the fitting. Zipped tied it and ran the hose from the inside, down through the hole.

Hope this helped.

Jerry

A good fix

These guys actually trouble shoot and refurbish rv refrigerators, they have a lot of very good tips and information regarding how to maintain your fridge. I would love to attend their course someday but for now a little out of my price range. Here is the site you can get good free info for do it yourself stuff. There is a whole section on how to install or replace your rv fridge drain hose, www.rvrefrigeration.com, hope this helps someone.
