underbelly covering

I was crawling around under the ole Passport and noticed that the "plastic cardboard" used to seal off the underbelly has probably 2"-3" of sag in the middle near the rear. Also, I noticed that it doesn't sit tight against the bottom of the frame rail. there are several places which have fairly large gaps against the frame rails.(especially left rear axle). Anyone else have the same issues? I will be sealing it up sometime prior to winter or it will be full of critters, I would guess.

Go buy a length of unistrut or angle stock and bolt it across your sag.

Our Coroplast dosen't really sag, but, I did notice that there are several places along the cross framing where the 3/4" dia washers (too small IMHO) looked like they might be pulling through the material. Replaced the washers with 2" fender washers. One less thing to worry about.

My TH, I had to cut under the garage from left Frame
to right frame to add more Ty downs and insulate. Put back and had a sag. Uninstrut channel and my left over aluminum tape to seal cut .. Sealed side holes with spray foam. Next day used flat black high heat barbecue paint to match bottom. I know dealerships would not go through this trouble. No matter how much you pay.

Thanks for the input....I figured I would get some perforated angle and bolt across. spray foam up the gaps also.

When you really start looking at how these are built, really makes you wonder about quality control.

In my opinion these underbellys are just put there to aid the manufacturers in running the wires. The wires pretty much just lay on that underbelly coroplast where they used to take the time to actually mount them to something. It probably does provide some form of insulation (I think they say R11) so on a nice October evening it's a help, but I bet it was adventageous for the manufacturer. Plus, they can charge us more for the covering and doing less work!

Yep, I agree with this. Its a birds nest of wires under there. No need to make it look neat cause they are going to cover them up anyway.
