Question Wax?

Is it good to wax after washing the TT? What kind and what method do you use?

Paste wax or caranuba is probably best if you have a buffer or a lot of muscle. I prefer Nufinish polish in the orange bottle. It goes on and comes off easy and is workable in the sun. I do my entire fiver once annually and it still looks new after 3 yrs. A good coat of wax or polish makes a huge difference in making it easier to keep clean and prevents chalking or breakdown of the finish.

Is it okay to wax over the decals or will that cause them to peel?

I use a product called Gel Gloss. I use it to was fiberglass showers and porcelain sinks. If your trailer is fiberglass sided, whick it looks like it is, this product works great. I have used it on the last two fiberglass sided trailers I have owned. Easy to apply and take off. Give it a try.

This is a very good question. I know on some vehicles it is advised not to wax the decals. Anyone have a firm answer on this?

James & Missy-
I've used Nu-Finish on all of my RV's - decals included -for years without any harm to the decals. This may be partially due to the lack of sunshine and exposure to UV, however. I've also used Aerospace303 from time-to-time as extra protection so it may be a combination of the two that has produced good results. Or it could be just plain good luck??

For off the shelf products, it's impossible to beat Nu-Finishes' protection. This was validated not long ago in Consumer Reports.
A large random orbital "buffer" with terrycloth bonnets makes quick work of removing large, flat sections of wax/sealant.

There are MANY other great quality sealants, which far outrank any wax when protection is more important than pure looks, but they are found in specialty deatiling shops and online stores, and cost more than Nu-Finish.

I used Turtle paste wax last spring. I was washing my 4yr. old camper yesterday and noticed that the decals on the front cap are starting to peel off. I don't know if it is from age or the wax.

I also use the Meguiar's marine wax - it's a little spendy but I use a buffer so it spreads easier and comes off well when dry. This year I used one bottle for two wax sessions on a 318SAB.......and I've got two sons who "help"......at least that's what they say they're doing.....
