LCI Tongue jack blowing fuses....

I needed 2 fuses for this past weekends trip... I usually run it just before the clutch kicks in but went 1 click over and they burnt up.. Found all kinds of stories on line about the LCI's blowing fuses...Its a shame these cheapo's were used... I plan to replace it this spring as my season is now winding down..

If you have an LCI on your TT, buy a 5 pack of 30A fuses... You never know!

zenbuck.
I just replaced my 30amp fuse in my landing gear wiring with a Bussmann CB221-30 Brass-Colored Type I ATC Circuit Style Breaker. It acts like a circuit breaker and kicks out/off and then resets itself. No more buying 30a fuses or worrying if you have one?
It was one of large blade types.

That sounds like a winner to me, my 2009 Keystone Copper Canyon landing gear has been blowing fuses lately (I only bought it used a month or so ago). Everything seems in great shape. Fuse & landing gear work for a while, but there's times it just seems to burn out for no reason I can tell...

I would check all the wiring. I had the same problem in my TT. I replaced the jack and it was good for a while then started blowing fuses again.

I rewired it where I had splices in it seemed to be work much better.

The most common reason for blowing fuses on an electric jack is when you are raise or lower it is to keep holding the switch after you hear the chatter, if you stop when you first hear the chatter it may help if there is nothing else wrong with the jack.

X2 on good electrical connections. These things normally pull a lot of current, and corroded connections can increase the load even more. Our jack was originally only grounded via a star type washer under one of the mounting bolts. We live and spend most our time near the coast, and the connection would not stay clean for long in the salt air. I installed a separate ground direct from one of the motor mounting bolts to the negative post on the battery, and that seemed to fix the problem. Also make sure you are using a "slow blow" type fuse (they are harder to find than regular fuses) and the jack is well lubricated per manufacturer's instructions - I take the cover off ours and re-lube with good quality grease every year or so .....
