Doggie door

Has anyone ever installed a goggie door in the main entry door?
Im not sure if i would be compromising the doors structure.
Also the screen door would have to be modified.
I'm just looking for ideas. These Chihuahuas are driving me nuts.
Thanks,

I would be concerned about the drop to the first step with no platform to get out on. Especially with small dogs ... long way to ground and open back steps. OUCH!!!

Your door is pretty much a chunk of styrofoam with thin covers on it. You would probably have to remove the bottom screen portion making your screen door about useless.

Heaven forbid something happens to the dogs, how are you going to undo what you did? Training is easier IMO.

Doggy doors, around here (we live in the woods) allow dogs to come and go as will. They also allow skunks, coons, possums, rats, squirrels, chipmunks and a host of other "unwelcome visitors" to come and go at will....

Given that much of the time camping (not fulltiming in a resort) is spent "in the woods", then I'd be reluctant to install an "invitational entry" for the above listed "pests"....

When coupled with the concern about that "long first step" and what to do with the "2 part solid/screen door"... installing a "hole in the door" doesn't sound very appealing, at least not to me....

If they are skinny chihuahuas, look at a "cat pet door" like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Ideal-Pet-Pro...SIN=B0002805SM

Don't believe it would harm an RV door. My fat old Billy Bob, super chi can make it up and down the steps easily and he is old and fat. Your screen door will be the challenge. Perhaps remove the screen and put in a very thin piece of plexiglass; there is a small detent around the sides and bottom and make a hole similar in size to the pet door and figure out some way to fix a flap on the plexiglass. Top of the screen would still work.

Since we park at RV parks almost exclusively that don't like dogs running off leash, never really considered it.

Doggie Door

I should expand my info here. We're liveaboards in an RV Park. I have a deck and a small fence for them.
I like the idea of replacing the screen with some Plexiglas, able to pull out when door is needed in the daytime only.
Ill check out the kitty door too, prolly better sized.
Sounds good that the door is basically foam inside.
When i finish this project ill post some pics.
Thanks y'all.

Not sure if I saw this in the other forum but I saw a post that you install a screen net like on your doors so even when your door is open they can't run outside. Or just make a gate that would enclosed your entrance so it's like you would have a mini garage.
