NO way the 2008 Dodge is rated for 18k. From the Dodge website.

With 4.10 Axle Ratio Axle Ratio [i] You Can Tow 16250 lbs
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) [i] = 12200 lbs
Payload [i] = 4610 lbs
Curb Weight [i] = 7590 lbs
Curb Weight Front/Rear = 4530 lbs/4530 lbs
GAWR Front/Rear [i] = 5200 lbs/9350 lbs
Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) [i] = 24000 lbs

Also the 06 Ford is only rated for 16100 or 15600

No way Hoyt. We have a 342, loaded to just at 15k on the road, pulling with a 08 F-350 SRW 4x4. Not a problem one. Plenty of power, plenty of brakes, plenty of truck.

I give up!!!!

I have heard 10 different things on how to know the weight . I know it weights 14,578 an the hitch is 3290 dry. I'm going back in the morning to look at a 2008 f-350 Drw 4x4 . They said it would pull around 17,900.

From what I researched before getting my tow vehicle it seemed that for many years Ford led the race in the max tow specs. They (Ford, GM, and Dodge) all seem caught up for now. The older you go back the less you will be able to pull, and it varies between manufacturers. You should be able to find the GVWR, pin & axle ratings on the web for any given year. Also if you have a smart phone there is a "Towing Capacities" app by "Quench Media" that is pretty helpful if you are out shopping and see something you like. It does cost a few dollars for the app.

The payload on a SRW 350 series truck will kill the deal. It will be in the 3100 pound range. That is without hitch and passengers.
Why are you stuck on a 2008??

You cannot legally tow the fuzion 395 with a srw due to the payload capacity of a srw vs the hitch weight of the fuzion. Simple math here. People will tell how great their srw will pull, etc. pulling is not the issue. It is stopping that will get you into trouble. Oh, by the way, if you get in a wreck, you will be toast with the law and insurance companies. That simple. Your choice.

Not doubting this, but is this fact? or based on rumor and speculation? I'm a facts/data guy and if you can sight a specific example I'd honestly appreciate it. Yes, I need a reason to sell the new truck idea to the Minister of Finance, but need facts and data to back the proposal.

Ok, a fuzion 390 is 14578 dry weight, with hitch weight of 3290. A 2012 f350 srw 4x4 has a max 5th wheel towing capacity of 15700 with a max payload of 3100. The Payload on the srw is exceeded without even considering the weight of the driver, fuel, hitch, etc... A 350 drw however has a payload capacity of 5500. no problem. If one puts any amount of cargo, water, etc in the fuzion, the 350 srw is over the towing and payload limit. Like I said earlier, payload specs on a srw don't wrk.
I have a fuzion 342 and did a ton of research before I bought my drw 450 mainly for the turning ability vs 350 drw. I drive mainly in the sierra's in ca.

These modern toy haulers with pop outs, etc are heavy on hitch weight compared to the old days where your standard srw would work no problem.

Also if you have a rear blow out with a SRW, it's not going to be fun. If you have the DRW at least you have a second chance to get on the side of road safely. I sold my Duramax which pulled great. Now I have a '99 7.3 DRW. It's slower but I feel much safer with 2 kids in back seat!

Great choice on the F-450. They like to drink the diesel but will get the job done with room to spare. Might look into a aux tank so you can be more picky on your stops.

So what about the guy on the first page doing it with an F250 ?

I tow my 2013 395LEV with a 2011 F250 with no problems. I put Firestone air bags on it also. I was passing a 18 wheeler with a house on it. Going up hill, next thang I knew I was going 85, with out full power. Just watch your braking distance...
Here is a pic.

Yes, I got my truck an pulled the trailer for the first time last weekend . No problems . I don't think I will be flying by anybody though. I defently notice the 15,500lb I was pulling. Still to to fill it up an an put my commander in it.
I have bought a intake an will be putting a new exhaust and DPF delet an programmer on it.
