In my experience a seized a/c pump would cause belt to scream and smoke but shouldn't drag a running engine down to the point where it would stall? And if it can. Well I don't see how you could haul anything with that motor. My two cents from experience.

Every one has an opinion and they are welcome to them. Now as I was behind the steering wheel when this happened I can testify it was the truth. As far as not being able to haul any thing I have been towing a 2010 Fuzion FZ 383 Touring edition ll Toy hauler for years with this truck. That is 40 foot of 5th wheel with 3 axles and a loaded weight with my side by side in the back of over 18,000 pounds. From south Texas to Quartzite AZ to San Diego CA then on down to Guerreo Negro Mexico back to San Filepe Mexico on to Yuma AZ then back to San Antonio TX that's since Jan 15th. not bad for a truck that can't tow any thing. I am glad that Ford 6.0 is the only diesel that has A/C compressor problems. I guess Ford just has a better belt tensioner than other brands. this is the reason I have been cautious about posting any thing on these sites. I have experience in the field of repairing equipment I was a industrial truck mechanic for 35 years, sorry I posted any thing so good night and good by.

C'mon George, this is all in fun for most of us. I'll agree that one of the bowtie guys probably had his wife run off with a Ford mechanic and leave the kids behind, but that is to be expected. Remember we usually just come here for a little info and see who might get a little riled. You've been on this forum for a long time and have seen a lot of good people come and go. Don't sweat the petty stuff.....and so on.

I think the reason you're not getting an answer is that none of us has run into this before and don't know what to say or how to give an answer. Simple as that. I'd sure like to know what is done to get you running again and pulling your trailer.

Interesting post and glad it was apparently the less expensive option of bad AC compressor than injector issues

My duramax engine needs minimum of about 210 rpm during cranking or it most likely will not start.

I can well see how the starter would perhaps have issues trying to turn over a stone cold engine with a seized AC compressor.

Sorry if I came across as insulting or putting down what you drive? That wasn't my intention at all! I simply meant it's hard to believe that the compressor could stall an engine that could pull all that weight ! I had an air pump fail once on an old gas engine truck and it tore the belt off without missing a beat! My apologies if I upset you !

I had a nice 1991 Chevy Suburban some years back. I was cruising along a street in my town, when suddenly the engine made a racket and stopped. Tried to turn over, but very hard. Oh oh!

A friend came along and towed me home, a couple of miles out of town. Monday morning I called the GM dealer and described the problem. He said he would take a run out and have a look. He had me open the hood, took out his pocket knife and promptly cut the serpentine belt. "Okay, now start it." Took right off! The alternator bearing(s) had piled up.

George, no need to say goodbye. At times some posts may seem contrary to a person but I don't think anyone means ill will. Some like a particular brand, or engine, and if it's something else then it's crap. You have to take that with a grain of salt.

I've owned all the big 3 plus Toyota. They all had issues (except my Ram 6.4 - cross my fingers and knock on wood I didn't just jinx myself!!). I am interested, and like, anything that sheds light on "motor stuff" and I appreciated your post and the heads up. Hang in there with us.....I'm sure one of us will make it worth your while in time.....

I have owned my 06 Ford F350 DRW, CC, Long bed 4X4 for 10yrs now. Best
truck I have ever owned. But then I only put a few miles per year on it. Have
had to have the wiring harness repaired due to a squirrel(now dead) and
replaced the batteries twice, but have never had a problem with the motor.
Of course with only 61,500 miles on it, it is not even broken in yet.
Treat it right and no problems .

I have a 2005 F250 with 6.0L diesel since new now with with 83K and other than routine maintenance, I haven't had any troubles with it. Though I did have a scare once where during an oil change, they said that it looked like the turbo was leaking oil. Turned out the previous oil change they had spilled a bit of oil. Pressure washing the engine cleared up the confusion. :-/
